As a point of interest some Deal smugglers served as pilots for Nelson and it was from Deal that guinea boats were constructed to ship gold across the channel to pay napoleons armies. This history can be felt in the walls and is reflected in original features such as exposed brick fireplaces, including an impressive inglenook in the sitting room and master bedroom along with wide wooden floorboards, timber beams and vintage furnishings that sit perfectly alongside more modern touches like painted panelling and modern framed artwork.
