Elm Cottage was a charming and cosy place to stay. We visited with our two boys for a one-week stay, and found the cottage well-equipped, clean, and comfortable, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The grounds were lovely to walk on!
We especially enjoyed learning about the history of Arniston House (during the tour). Henrietta was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout our stay and provided us with Honey and my boys with some board games, which made the experience even more special! We loved the little Arniston House booklet in the cottage, which traced the family’s ancestral line...more
The host was super nice, and friendly. The location was easy enough to find, and manage. What we didn't like was all the mold in the bathroom. It wouldn't take much to re-caulk the bathroom to make it better. It gave us the ick, since that's not managed what else isn't?
This was a first anniversary gift to my daughter and her husband and they had a magical time. They enjoyed peaceful walks through the estate and loved having a real fire to cosy up to.
It was Doors Open day on their arrival day and they enjoyed an interesting tour of Arniston House. Many thanks to Henrietta, her mother and the staff that make Arniston such a wonderful Place to stay.
We stayed in Sycamore Cottage. It is poorly designed with little usable space for a family. It was filthy, e.g. pubic hairs all over the bathroom floor and a radiator in the kitchen (for hanging tea towels) with about 30 years of dust and grime in it. The grounds itself are nice and well maintained, just not the Cottage.
Contact and info provided by Arniston Estate prior to arrival was first class. The cottage (Lime) was comfortable for two people, although it sleeps 4 there is only enough room at dining table for two and only two chairs provided. This was perfect for us. Wifi was strong with no drop outs. Log burner was great. The walks around the grounds were great some amazing looking trees in the sunken garden straight out of lord of the rings by the looks of it. Enjoyed watching the bats flying in and out of the eaves of the cottage. Nothing bad to say.
