Acorn Cottage is rated 5 Star Gold by Visit England and has every luxury and modern convenience to give you the perfect stay.

Built in 1868 Acorn Cottage is a traditional flint cottage, and was a milking parlour, part of a larger agricultural barn, now Underhill Barn. The property oozes with character and benefits from its own private secure enclosed garden and we are doggie friendly and will happily take one well-behaved family friendly breed of dog. Should you wish to bring two dogs, please get in touch with us to discuss and this is possible by prior arrangement. Acorn Cottage even has a hot & cold doggie shower so your dog can enjoy the coast and beautiful countryside on your doorstep and then wash it all off.

The cottage was tastefully renovated and benefits from a luxury bathroom with marble tiles and underfloor heating and the ktichen has top quality Neff appliances and its generously equipped; we're keen cooks and like to cook on holiday and we ensure that our guests can too. We even provide basic herbs, spices and oils so you don't have to bring half your kitchen on holiday and a basic welcome hamper.

Acorn Cottage sits in the heart of Southleigh village and its a great place to live with a fantastic agricultural community at its heart. Just 20 minutes away are The beautiful towns of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) at Beer and Branscombe is just over 10 minutes drive.

We absolutely loved our stay at this holiday cottage. The location is perfect for exploring nearby villages and beautiful beaches, with plenty of lovely places to eat just a short drive away. The cottage itself was perfect – superbly presented, spotlessly clean, and finished to a very high standard. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the charming courtyard garden was a real bonus. The doggy ‘spa’ was such a thoughtful touch, and the most welcoming hosts made us feel right at home. The welcome hamper was out of this world! We couldn’t recommend this cottage enough!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The location is perfect for striking out on walks and visiting the surrounding beaches. The cottage itself is cosy, luxurious and very welcoming. I think it has to be the best equipped place we've stayed in. The beautiful welcome hamper was a lovely treat and Ants and Lance were perfect hosts. We would love to stay again.

Acorn Cottage is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed at in the UK. It is a beautifully presented house, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and is equipped with all you could need for a perfect stay in a lovely, quiet location. Ant and Lance were very friendly and helpful and their attention to detail is exemplary. The welcome hamper was incredible, full of delicious goodies and we were only sorry we failed to do it justice!

We found the location ideal for us as we love walking and being off the beaten track. But it was easy to visit the more popular attractions in the area. We shall definitely return to the property as we found it to be just perfect for us.

A massive thanks to Ant and Lance for being the perfect hosts.

A beautiful stone cottage set in the very quiet hamlet of Southleigh. Very tastefully decorated, with hosts that were friendly and helpful when needed and unobtrusive when not. Only downside was the single track nature of all the surrounding lanes flanked with high hedgerows (not one for the nervous driver). Well equipped kitchen and a nice welcome basket with all the essentials on arrival. Extremely comfortable bed and nicely appointed shower room. Even had a gas bar-b-q in the courtyard garden which was a nice touch. All that and dog friendly too, with a dog bed, bowls, treats and toys.
We all enjoyed our stay at Acorn Cottage and would not hesitate to use again if in the area.

We had a great stay in Acorn Cottage in May, complimented by probably the sunniest week of the year. The cottage is beautifully laid out, decorated very smartly, very clean, accessible and, notwithstanding the narrow laneways, in a good location in proximity to nearby beaches, attractive local villages and towns. We were very well catered for by an extremely helpful and unobtrusive owner and by a generous welcoming hamper of food and attention to facilities. Acorn cottage is strongly recommended.

Without a doubt Ants and Lance have a wonderful cottage which was immaculately clean and the best equipped cottage kitchen we have ever visited - that goes too for the lovely and delicious welcome hamper and homemade cake. Top marks to Ants!

We will most definitely return (cottage or B&B - time will tell) as their hospitality and caring to ensure you have everything you need is second to none. We absolutely loved our 3 nights there. On the morning of our departure we didn’t want to leave and could’ve happily stayed longer! We have already recommended your place to all our friends and family.

Thank you for being such wonderful hosts - we very much look forward to seeing you both again when time off work allows. D & J x

We had the most wonderful stay at Acorn Cottage! From the moment we booked, everything felt personal and thoughtful. Ants, the owner, even rang us the afternoon of our arrival to let us know the cottage was ready early in case we were nearby – such a kind and helpful gesture after a long drive!
When we arrived, Ants greeted us with umbrellas in hand (a classic English welcome!) and showed us around the cottage. It was beautiful – cosy, stylishly furnished, spotless, and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need for a long weekend in the countryside.
The welcome goodies were next-level. The kitchen was stocked with quality essentials like milk, butter, and eggs, plus treats to graze on and even everything needed for a full English breakfast – the bacon was especially delicious! The standout, though, was the homemade lemon sponge cake Ants had baked for us. It was heavenly – we ate most of it and took the last couple of slices home with us as it was too good to waste!
The location was equally perfect – tucked away in the quiet, picturesque village of Southleigh. On Ants’ recommendation, we took our dog to nearby Branscombe Beach (just a 15-minute drive) and it did not disappoint. We were lucky to catch the sunshine and enjoyed a scenic walk along the coast followed by pasties and drinks at the Sea Shanty Beach Cafe.
We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Acorn Cottage is a dream for anyone looking for a peaceful, dog-friendly countryside escape with plenty of beautiful walks and personal touches. We’re already planning to come back – hopefully with family next time so we can stay in their lovely B&B next door!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage. From
the call from one the owners to advise us the cottage was ready for
us this really was a marvellous experience throughout. Ants, one of the
owners, was there when we arrived to greet us and show us around -
the owners were always on hand but never intrusive.
The cottage is a gorgeous, cosy retreat, spotlessly clean and very well
equipped. The owners also supplied a brilliant Welcome Basket - lovely bread,
milk, butter etc. many extras including chocolates and a wonderful home made
cake.
There is so much to compliment as regard this stay but perhaps the biggest is
before we left we booked again for next year !!!

By far the nicest cottage we have spent a week in. Anthony and Lance have ensured that their guests will be comfortable and staying in a very pleasing environment.
There was a welcoming supply of foodstuffs to start our week and a coffee machine which made very good coffee. The kitchen is thoughtfully equipped with everything needed to have the occasional meal in.
The week we stayed in Acorn Cottage the weather was on the whole bright but quite windy and chilly. So when we came back from a bracing walk along the seafront in Seaton, or wherever else our daily trips took us, we could relax in the lovely lounge and be sure of a good night's sleep in the very comfortable bed. There was an abundance of wardrobe and cupboard space and everything was spotlessly clean.
Anthony made a deliciously light Victoria sponge for us which my wife has been trying to emulate ever since.
We would definitely return.

Our week at Acorn Cottage was just brilliant! On our arrival Ants and Lance gave us such a friendly welcome and showed us the excellent facilities as well as offering suggestions and tips to get the most out of our holiday: during our stay it was lovely to know they were on hand to help if needed while being completely unintrusive of our holiday space.
Acorn Cottage itself is a perfect holiday rental. It's beautifully decorated, light and spacious and so luxuriously comfortable. Ants and Lance have clearly put so much thought and attention to detail into appointing every room - kitchen, bedroom, living room and shower, plus the entrance hall and outside area - with everything one might need to make a holiday carefree and relaxing, kicking off our sojourn with a sophisticated array of edible goodies and Ants' delicious home baked banana/chocolate chip bread in our welcome basket!
Our doggy's needs were also very well catered for and he settled right in after his warm welcome from our hosts.
Acorn Cottage's friendly farming hamlet location of Southleigh made a perfect base for us to explore East Devon and West Dorset; being within easy reach of multiple great eating, walking, and sight-seeing opportunities (with thanks to Ants for the heads-up!). And at the same time, it is wonderfully quiet and private within the beautiful rolling Devon landscape.
We immensely enjoyed our holiday at Acorn Cottage and will recommend it highly to our friends and certainly hope to visit again ourselves: we also consider Acorn Cottage to be excellent value for money.

We had the most warmest of welcomes from Ants and Lance when we arrived at Acorn Cottage for our week stay in August.
The guys could not have been more hospitable, they gave us so much local information where to visit, where to eat, where to shop even the best driving routes to take which was so helpful.
The cottage is beautiful in every way and equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a fridge and basket full of local produce, and the most delicious lemon cake homemade by Ants!
Thankyou again for the most wonderful week.
