Fantastic Brixham bay vistas, very awkward access

We have stayed in many Brixham properties over the last 30 years and, despite a few niggles, our April holiday at Seascape was by far the best. The flat is well-designed, stylishly furnished, warm, modern and welcoming.

The highlight is undoubtedly the stunning panoramic views from three sides. There is generous daylight in the bedrooms, hallway and especially the main living area, courtesy of well-positioned skylights and large windows. The weather was bad during our stay but the spacious balcony, views and comfortable living area prevented the rain and gales from spoiling our holiday.

On the downside, certain parts of the property were in need of a little basic maintenance. There are two nice bathrooms but both sinks seemed to have a plug that will not stay down. The tap in the kitchen/living area was dripping constantly, which became very annoying and some of the windows and blinds aren't in the best shape and don't work properly. My main issue is that the property owners reserve an extra £100 on your card as a security deposit, which they refund 7 days after your holiday ends provided they feel you haven't damaged anything. As we had a bad experience elsewhere in Brixham, this made me feel I needed to photograph Seaview's less-than-perfect parts as soon as we arrived, which spoiled the initial holiday excitement a little.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning the restricted access: When you arrive (and leave) you will need to stop the car at the top of the steps and the property entrance is a couple of flights down. The road is extremely narrow, leaving you with two options: either stop on double yellow lines or move a few feet forward and park 'legally' but block the road and someone else's front door and windows. The reason I am adding this to the review is that on the morning we had to leave, a local resident passing by with his dog, a hideous, hateful slob of a man, became incredibly abusive when I stopped the car at the top of the steps as instructed by the owners to load our cases.

The man was a well-spoken local resident who clearly detests all tourists with a passion. He hurled personal abuse at me on the basis I was "parked illegally," and when I politely asked where he preferred I park for a few minutes to load our luggage, he began shouting and calling me every swear word under the sun (yes, the REALLY bad ones!).

That last incident was genuinely quite alarming and really spoiled the end of our holiday. This is in no way the fault of the owners of Seaview of course, but do be aware there is some serious bad feeling in the area. If you don't have too much stuff, I would consider going straight to the designated car parking space a few streets away, and carry your bags from there, although there is quite a steep hill involved so it may not be ideal.

I certainly hope we can return to Seaview again someday soon, when the price is right.

I really enjoy staying at seascape. A well equipped and comfortable apartment in a beautiful location. It’s perfect to wander into town or enjoy locals walks. I’ll be back!

Our 4th stay this property. The views are absolutely amazing - spent many hours just staring out of the window watching the storms come and go. Very well equipped and warm and cosy for a New Year stay. New Nespresso machine since our last stay which was much appreciated. Property showing some signs of cosmetic wear and tear now but didn’t affect our enjoyment of the stay. Beds quite soft for us but that is personal choice. Be prepared for the 60 odd steps down into town and the walk uphill to the parking spot.

Having stayed here a number of times seascape always impresses with the view Having a parking space is excellent as the roads are very narrow by the apartment. The steps are always challenging but are very doable if you take your time.Unfortunately this time we found the mattress to soft for us and the shower seal was broken which we reported the next morning. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay and would return again .

The property was impressive with its fantastic outlook over Brixham harbour and beyond. It was spotlessly clean and bright. The beds were really comfortable and the bedding was good quality which was a nice bonus.
We have stayed at a variety of properties both in the uk and abroad and this is definitely one of the best.
The steps up from the harbour are hard going but is to be expected with such a great view. It’s good exercise too!
Dealing with the agent was easy and everything was straightforward.

The Seascape apartment is in the perfect location, looking over the harbour. It’s a beautiful apartment, with everything you need and it certainly made our holiday just perfect. Would highly recommend.

The booking and pre-arrival administration was all good.

The position overlooking the harbour and the bay is fabulous. It takes your breath away when you walk through the door even if you've looked endlessly at photos before you go. The whole apartment was beautifully appointed and had a luxury feel to it.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Seascape to friends and family. The dedicated parking was useful but we also parked on North View Road beside the apartment as the walk to the dedicated space was uphill and steep.

It's a wonderful apartment and we had a brilliant stay.

This apartment is really beautiful with amazing views across the harbour and Torbay. It was really comfortable and well stocked making our break really relaxing. The arrangements were all clear and contact with 'my Brixham holiday' was simple and response was quick. We got very fit walking up all the steps! The get in and out was a bit tricky as roads are narrow and you have to park 'unofficially', quickly carry bags up the steps and load in between passing cars, so we recommend travelling relatively lightly. This is obviously to do with Brixham's geography and not in any way a criticism of the flat or the company!

Amazing property due to the breath-taking view off the balcony. Honestly, we actually wanted to cut short days out just so we could come home and have a cup of tea and soak up that amazing view!!

Parking was much appreciated once we'd seen the tiny, hilly roads of Brixham - we were unable to unload outside the property due to a road closure but the walk from the parking space is easy even with cases. Bear in mind there are around 70 steps up to the apartment from the harbour (unless you go a long alternative route) but they are worth it for the view. Did I mention the view?!?

A modern lovely property. The best point for sure is the all round views of the harbour and marina from the windows. Guaranteed nearby parking too. We had a beautiful comfortable stay and would recommend this lovely property to others. Be aware the steps up to the property are steep and there are 63 in total.

Location is excellent and view is stunning, and the accommodation very comfortable. This is one of the best holiday apartments my wife and I have stayed in. Staff were immediately on hand by phone call to sort out any questions we had.

The best way to unload luggage is by parking at the Eastern end of North View Road where the 15 steps down aren't much of a problem. However to avoid a tricky reverse or doing an impossible hairpin turn to get to the reserved parking afterwards, you'll need to drive the long way round. And bear in mind N. View Road is very narrow. The map showing the route to the parking doesn't mention that using a back path, it's only around 200 metres from the apartment to the reserved parking bay - very convenient.

A complete map sent to us in advance of the whole route layout in fine detail with all unloading options and reserved parking would have saved us time.

The 65 steps up from the waterfront are steep and demanding, there are somewhat gentler walking routes using North View Road. Convenience stores are 10 mins walk away, I'd recommend walking a little further to the Tesco for more choice. The restaurant guide in the property's handbook was useful.

We Stayed at seascape for 3 nights in march. First of all we were amazed by the views directly into the harbour you could not ask for better views. The flat was incredibly warm we had the stat set at 16 and that was just the right temperature for us. As you are looking directly into the harbour you are right in the heart of everything. because you have such amazing views you are on a hill and the only access to the property is up about 60 steps or down about 15 there are rails to hold onto if you need too, the steps are a bit uneven in places, this was not a downside for us but something to think about if you struggle on steps. all in all a cracking property with everything you need washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc etc. The only reason we didn't give it 5's across the board was we found the bed too soft for us but beds are a difficult thing to get right for everyone.

Regarding the steps, those with limited mobility may find the number of steps too much however we do have great properties nearer the bottom of the steps which work well for these guests.
