Our charming roundhouses, all recently refurbished, are ideal for a short break, romantic weekend or special celebration in an idyllic coastal setting.

Roundhouses comprise a double bedroom, lounge/kitchen and bathroom, and are double-glazed, centrally heated and tastefully decorated throughout. They’re fully furnished, with a flat-screen TV in both lounge and bedroom.

The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need for self-catering, including an electric oven, hob, microwave and fridge.

Each roundhouse has a modern shower room, now with a roomy walk-in shower.

Electricity and bed linen are included, but you do need to bring your own towels.

Clean and comfortable as always. Loved our stay and I finally got to see the baby seals on the beach. Single round house wonderfully cosy and heating on when we arrived. Perfect, thank you.

Third time we have stayed here, and it never disappoints. We love the little round houses and the views over the dunes are spectacular. Found a few hairs on the towels, which wasn’t the nicest thing but it happens. Otherwise lovely and clean. Will come again as we love it in Winterton and love Hermanus.

This is the third time we have stayed in the huts at Winterton as they are in a great location for the beach and for us to do our cold water swimming. We booked the weekend stay package but was a bit surprised that we had to vacate the hut by 9.30am Sunday morning .I mentioned this when we checked in and was told that they needed time for the cleaners to go in and to clean etc. Its supposed to be a relaxing break but to get up early to then pack to leave means you cant do anything Sunday morning i.e. go for a swim in the sea (pool doesn't open till 9am onsite) or walk etc and so then you would have to start packing up Saturday night having only just arrived Friday night!
We had packed everything we needed for this `self catering` weekend but had forgotten some T-Bags for a drink. The welcome pack only had 2 in and so I asked at reception if it was possible to have some extra as we had forgotten them. I was asked abruptly `what hut you in` then `you only get two in your welcome pack so NO`....I said we had forgotten them but she walked off around the counter. For the price of giving me 4 T-Bags or even selling me 4 T-Bags for a £1 was enough to upset me and unfortunately these are the reasons we wont be going back. We`ve had 3 nice visits but we wont be going back as basic customer service has been forgotten which is a real shame..

I have stayed at Hermanus for many years, often is Roundhouse 20 which is has the best position in my opinion. The Roundhouses themselves are perfect little homes away from home, with all the essentials for a good stay.

The overall location couldn't be better with the amazing views across the Dunes and it's so quiet sometimes all you can hear is the wind and the sea.

The restaurant and bar in the main building mean you don't even have to leave the site if you want a drink or a meal and the food is very nice. If you want to go further afield the village pub is a five minute walk and the chip shop only a little further.

I would recommend Hermanus for a short break or for a longer stay.

Wonderful setting overlooking the dunes and the sea. 5 minute walk to the beach. Roundhouse absolutely sweet small but perfectly fitted for 2.
Staff always friendly and helpful.We had a brilliant time.

I have stayed here before and would of rated it 10 out of 10 last time.
This time it wasn't quite as perfect, not quite as clean and there was an issue with the tvs.
We still had a lovely time.

The TV lost signal on the first night. I reported it to reception the next morning. Very friendly, efficient, apologetic staff.
They re tuned the TV or moved the Aries or something. It worked fine for about 30 mins and then nothing. No channels at all. The bedroom TV or the sitting room TV both not working. My Grandaughter in neighbouring roundhouse, her signal too weak for decent reception too. We didn't bother reporting it again.
Maybe take the tvs out and don't advertise them if they don't work !

The site is clean, easy beach access. We ate in the Highwayman restaurant/bar. Excellent food. Good value. Friendly staff. Good service.

There were a few small cobwebs in our roundhouse but not enough to put us off visiting again.

I have been coming to Hermanus in Winterton for 15 years
I truly love this place
The round houses are simply perfect
In fact, all the accommodation on the site is great
I have stayed in all the different kinds of accommodation with family, friends or as a couple and it’s always fantastic.
I can’t recommend this place enough
It’s my special place where I am always relaxed and happy

Great accommodation and perfect views of the sea across the dunes. I have stayed here several times over a number of years and a perfect setting to relax and recharge the batteries
There are dog friendly roundhouses also which is a real positive for those with canine family. There is a cafe near the beach and the usual amenities needed from a small friendly local village including a dog friendly pub.
I would fully recommend a stay here with Hermanus and you can expect friendly staff to manage your booking in a professional manner and to deal with any questions you may have during your stay.

I wanted to book a weekend break by the coast for my partners birthday & the Hermanus house seemed the perfect little retreat. On arrival the houses looked beautiful against the backdrop of the sea & dunes. It was a chilly day so we were very grateful to step in to a warm house. It was lovely & clean & had all the appliances required for self catering. The bed is against a wall so one person has to take a bit of a hike if they want to get up before the other. The sofa in the living room is a sofa bed though which could be used as an alternative. The beach is fantastic & only a short walk over the dunes from the house. The staff were friendly & very accommodating which made this already lovely break & experience even more charming.
Can’t wait to visit again

We had a great time, all we needed in the roundhouse was there,the only thing we found was the bedroom, even with the heating on got cold very quickly, we came in October, but we were in the rollers, which we would book again, this trip was so good we would come again, when possible, thank you

The location of the round houses is perfect for a getaway during any season. The view of the sea from the bed in the bedroom is head clearing, calming and relaxing. My only suggestion is that the window should be clear glass, rather than mock leaded panes, as this would enhance the looking into the distance experience. The beach is soft, sandy, wild and powerful. Different in different weathers, but always beautiful, the dune top walk that one can take for as short or as long as one wishes, has the same head clearing, calming and relaxing effect on one, as does the view from the bedroom.

I have visited Hermanus many times before, but never stayed in a round house. It was exceptionally comfortable, clean and the views from No 20 are incredible! I was pleased to have great weather too. I travelled alone and felt safe and welcome immediately. The food is always plentiful and wonderfully cooked and there is plenty of choice....sadly had to leave early Sunday morning so missed out on the 'Sunday Roast' which was a shame as I really enjoyed it last time I will be back again next year and I honestly cannot wait! Thank you Hermanus staff for all your kindness, especially Andy on reception and Liz in the bar.....

As always a lovely relaxing stay with everything you need but this is probably the most difficult roundhouse for access and for an area around it to sit comfortably due to the slope it is on and I booked before I hurt my knee, But have already booked for next year, this is probably my 6th year in a row a place to really get away from the everyday!

This was a return visit to No. 20.
The staff are very pleasant and welcoming.
The accommodation was as good as usual, however the bed settee in the lounge is now very soft to sit on as a settee and could do with replacing.
A few more items of cutlery, including scissors, and crockery would be useful.
Be prepared for intermittant UKTV signal depending on the weather.
Apart from those small things, all was good.
We don't tend to use The Highwayman for evening drinks or meals as we fully self cater.

Cleanliness - crockery, cutlery, table had to be cleaned. Doors & handles needed a clean. Dust on the doors and the high dusting had not been done. Although we did not use the radiators, there was thick fluff on them.

Condition - Dining chairs were ripped & springs damaged so could only sit on the edge of the chair.

The WI-Fi did not work for two evenings, so at the end of the day, when we wanted to chill and just watch something on the TV for an hour, we were unable to do so.

In saying the above, the property was right for us to use as a base, and the review would be better if the few points could be addressed.
