Tucked away on the peaceful Dorback Estate near Nethybridge, Drum Lodge is a spacious and luxurious conversion of a traditional stone steading transformed by renowned architect Lachlan Stewart and later refurbished in Summer 2025. With seven bedrooms, generous living spaces and views across the Dorback Burn and surrounding Cairngorms, it offers the perfect blend of comfort, style and Highland charm, ideal for large families or groups of friends looking to reconnect in nature.

We attended Drum Lodge to celebrate our Dad's 80th birthday.
The lodge was excellent. With a mixed age range from 80 to 3yrs, the property was perfect.
All the facilities, bedrooms, kids play area, fireplaces, kitchen, seating areas were great. Our only comment would be to provide some plastic (child friendly) plates etc as the stone floors could cause breakages for the little ones
The indoor BBQ was not available to use which was a disappointment but the other kitchen facilities enabled us to adjust our plans.
Overall, could not fault the whole place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family.

Brilliant location in the foothills of the cairngorms. Great for a family holiday or gathering. It's was renovated and updated for an owner with plenty of money and the quality shows. Huge well equipped kitchen - even has an indoor bbq (which is tricky given the smoke detector) It was well prepared, nice package of local stuff to get us going - we had 11 adults and four teenagers (and 2 dogs) and there was enough room for us not to feel crowded. the central courtyard would be great in summer - we were there over Christmas with magical views from the living area of a frosty highland glen - telescope included. A few technical glitches but nothing serious - not cheap but memorable, photogenic and special.
