We stayed for 4 nights over new year. The property had everything we needed. Good location. Host was fantastic. Would defo recommend.

First time staying at The Burrows. We found it spacious, clean and very well equipped. The games room kept my girls entertained, with board games, TV and a games console. The lounge was spacious and bright, as was the kitchen and dining room. We loved the hot tub and huge garden. The bedrooms were light and airy, beautifully furnished and it was great having an en-suite in two of them. A super location; a short drive to both Colchester Town centre and Clacton-on-Sea, with many places to visit in between. Overall, a great stay and we hope to return next year.

Welcomed on arrival and provided with all the information we needed, this was a wonderful accommodation for our family holiday with three couples, a toddler and one baby. Plenty of space ensured that we could spread out when quiet was needed, but all come together for socialising. The large lawn in the rear garden was great for ball/frisbee games and we enjoyed using the well maintained hot tub and gas barbecue.
The property is well appointed and looks to be great for any time of the year.

We had a lovely time staying at The Burrows. The house is gorgeous and Fiona has literally thought of everything. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The location is great and the on-site cafe was really good.
We would love to return one day.

An immaculate, clean, quite, welcoming, well designed house. The hot tub was maintained daily. We could not find a fault with it.
One of the best self catering houses we have ever stayed in. We would love to return

Staying at the Burrows was fantastic. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our weekend. Fiona was very helpful throughout the booking process and David made us feel very welcome when he popped over to check in. Being able to walk to the Barn Cafe and the Pink Pottery workshop enabled us to plan additional activities easily, ie a pottery painting session and an afternoon tea. The icing on the cake was its locality - a beautiful setting that none of us had to drive hundreds of miles to get to. Overall a wonderful fun and relaxing weekend was had by all.

A very comfortable, modern, peaceful and spacious house with a lovely garden and beautiful view over the fields to the rear. A perfect place for our short trip to the area and the added bonus of a wonderful hot tub. We would certainly stay again.

If you want to stay at a fabulous property in a wonderful area look no further than here.
The whole experience was excellent. The property is in a great location and is just perfect. Fiona is a lovely lady who provided excellent help and info on where to go and what to do and her property is absolute five star rating.
If you want to enjoy the best self catering in an area that has so much going on for adults and children, stay here!

We had a very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing stay at The Burrows, a well-equipped spacious house with a lovely garden, excellent sized for children to play in, and the house is well situated for day trips to the coastal area. The hot tub is an excellent feature for relaxing in after a day out exploring and was well used by all the family.

Fiona is very helpful and friendly host. I would not hesitate to recommend this property for a holiday.

The Burrows is of high standard and had a feel of home from home as everything you needed was there. Fiona was very accommodating and as we were a group of girls celebrating our belated 40th birthdays I was worried we would be a little loud! Fiona made sure we enjoyed ourselves! Very comfortable, clean and a welcome pack including milk and cookies was such a lovely touch. The hot tub was perfect and the garden is just beautiful. Thank you once again and we will be returning.

We had a wonderful stay at The Burrows with our children and grandparents. The house felt really spacious - the two en-suite bedrooms plus family bathroom meant that everyone had their own space upstairs; downstairs the kitchen was an open, bright place to gather and it great to see the children playing outside in the lovely garden. The hot tub was enjoyed by young and old, and the extra room downstairs was great for the kids to play in.
The location was also brilliant. It was easy to walk into Great Bentley where the children loved the playground and running around on the green, and we all enjoyed food at The Plough.
Being so close to the coast meant we had day trips out at Clacton on sea, Holland on Sea and Frinton on Sea - all brilliant in their own way. We also visited Colchester zoo and the Curve water park. Lots of fun things to choose from!
Fiona was extremely helpful from my first email to giving advice about where to visit during our stay.
I would definitely recommend a visit to The Burrows!

I treated my family and my 3 grandchildren to a four night stay which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The house was lovely, spacious and very clean. It is in a good location near to Colchester Zoo and Clacton. We all enjoyed the hot tub which was just wonderful.
Fiona, the owner was very friendly and happy to help us with anything.
I would definitely recommend this property for a holiday.

Fiona was incredibly accommodating - nothing was too much for her at all! The Barn cafe is a must visit - staff there were amazing and breakfast is an absolutely MUST!
Three of our children went in the hot tub every morning for a while - it was great not to have to entertain them and put my feet up in the garden watching them have the time of their life.
The hot tub was kept SO clean by Fiona.
In the house- you won’t need a thing- all equipment you’ll have at home was there. And a coffee machine which was a treat for me- change from using the cafetière at home!
Games room was adequately stocked with board games and hang man which was our favourite!
We used the log fire as we sat together as a family - it was really relaxing.
The seaside at Clacton is lovely to walk around and incredibly peaceful.
Hays adventure park farm is perfect for the little ones- it’s a short drive away and Colchester zoo if you are that way inclined.

If you’re looking for a place to really just unwind - this will be the place for you.

Depending on your height and how you like your beds - it’s good to note the beds are lovely and soft- this might not be what some want as some like the firmer beds.

From the point of booking Fiona the host was in immediate communication with us - such to the extent that advised us of activities and potential local amentities.

Our Holiday was a short getaway from the hustle and fast life in London.

On arrival a welcome pack was displayed with a few goodies :)

The burrows is setup with all the decor and appliances of a comfort cosy home.

We did not use the log fire but were provided with the logs and kindle, yet also there games room with many board games and a games console which we also did not use.However, there are an asset to those with children.

There are 4 bedrooms and 2 are ensuite which are cosy, The Garden is spacious and big enough to have a few games like football badminton as there is a games box with a football and some rackets to be kept entertained.

The Gas BBQ was the main appliance that we used for our freshly cooked BBQ meals and is easy to use and clean.

The Jacuzzi was the main highlight and definitely the reason for us booking this particular home.(please check as extra cost is applied at time of booking)

The Garden is set up East Facing and therefore has the most amazing Sunrise view.

Overall we had a relaxed getaway with peaceful silence...............

We had a great stay here for the week. I hadn't realised the Burrows was a 4 bedroom house so it didn't feel like we were on holiday. As a family of 7 we did feel a little segregated within the house and would have preferred more open planned space. However the space you have is lacking in nothing. There is everything you'd expect in a family home which is kinda how it felt. There are lots to do out and about by getting to places in the car. Hot tub was one of the best we've had in any accimidation we've stayed. Fio a was on hand if we needed her.

We stayed at the Burrows for 14 days , July 2021. From the first booking inquiry to the morning we left Fiona, the owner, was absolutely wonderful and made our much needed family holiday that extra bit special.
The house was perfect for our family of 5, facilities were great and everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and used a lot by the teenage children, loved the fact it had speakers.
On the carpenters farm complex is the Barn cafe, we ate their about 8 times, breakfast was great, Sunday lunch was the best I've had in years. Each time we ate there the staff were exceptional and the food was 10 out of 10 and very reasonable, average lunch for 5 was about £60 for 2 courses and drinks. Fantastic value for money.
The location was perfect for us, literally 15 mins to the coast and 15 mins to Colchester which we loved, all in all probably the best UK family vacation we have had to date, hoping to get back soon.

We really enjoyed our holiday at The Burrows; the house is immaculate and has everything you want. We have 2 toddlers and I felt they were safe and catered for with stair gates, high chairs and cots being provided. There is also a large garden for children to play in.
Fiona and David (owners) are very friendly and helpful; they kindly organised a “tractor morning” for the children so that they could sit in the tractors. This was a highlight of our holiday!
The house is an ideal location for families with soft play, a petting farm, the beach, the pier and supermarket all within 15 minutes by car.
Once the children were in bed, we really enjoyed the hot tub! A lovely view down the large garden and some great sunsets. Well worth booking!

Beautifully decorated and designed house, light and modern with plenty of room. More than enough storage in kitchen, extremely well appointed with everything you would ever need! We were surprised at the attention to detail that has been given. Car parking directly outside the property. Not overlooked at the rear with large garden that would suit family. Friendly and helpful owners on adjoining arable farm who respected our privacy but more than happy to help if required. We would certainly stay again.

YES it says 5 stars and it is just that. One feels it has so much TLC put into the property. The facilities are abundant and the views from the kitchen dining area are so relaxing but even better from the master bedroom !
