We enjoyed our stay at Wooladen again. It's a great spot for the early morning walk with the dogs. The family were very helpful when we initially encountered a problem with the heating in the accommodation.

Recently we have booked the Pheasant Barn for our Christmas break and I intend to do again for 2024. My wife has had a stroke and requires plenty of space to move around in which is easily accomplished in the accommodation. That and the level access and all the accommodation being on one level make this ideal.

Pheasant Barn is last lovely place to stay for a short break/week away. The estate itself is beautiful, and there are lots of options for countryside walks just in the grounds. The cottage is spacious and comfortable, and the modernisation inside makes it easy to forget that the building is much older.
The beds are comfortable and as the estate is so quiet, you should be fine for a good night’s sleep.
The en-suite in the second bathroom can feel damp as there isn’t an easily accessible window to open after a shower, but on the whole both bathrooms are clean and functional.
The kitchen and living area is the standout though, really comfortable and well appointed, and the “welcome cream tea” was a nice touch.
We didn’t meet any staff, but didn’t need to during our stay. We did have to call after leaving as we realised we had left our toddlers’ bed guards, but Adam was really polite and helpful and is working to sort this for us.
The Strawberry Field farm shop and restaurant are both fantastic, and the breakfast in the restaurant was probably the best cooked breakfast I have eaten. My wife’s poached eggs and salmon were similarly excellent.
If you are looking for a beach holiday, you do have a drive of at least 35 minutes, but I would say this is reflected in the excellent value for money of the cottages. The cost for accommodation this size and this impressive at the coast would be at least double if not triple.
We would happily stay here again.

My mum and my partners mum and dad stayed in Pheasant Barn and had a lovely stay. The cottage was beautifully decorated and was equipped with everything you would need. It is perfectly located to explore all areas of Devon and Cornwall. The farm shop is amazing and with the lovely walks around the estate as well you could easily stay in the cottage the entire time. Would love to return.

This was our third stay at the Pheasant Barn. We enjoy the peacefulness of the location. Laura and Adam ensure that you have everything that you need. Groceries can be preordered from the Strawberry Fields Farmshop and will be delivered to the door. This is an excellent place to stay and is very good value for money.

Lovely stay from start to finish. The dogs loved their stay on the estate. The welcome gift of milk, bread etc was a fab touch. Husband caught some lovely carp from the lake, mainly 20lb+, that just looked like been carved out of wood, beautiful fish. The only negative was the room with just the Velux window, this needs to be operational to get some fresh air into the room. Overall a wonderful stay

We had a lovely stay here and I would return. But please can Wooladon staff take more care when driving and drive more slowly and carefully around the estate when holiday makers are present. We had a frightening incident with a driver running into me and my dog when we were walking as the driver reversed at speed round a corner. The literature says it is fine to walk your dog everywhere so staff need to take this very seriously. My dog would have been badly injured or worse had I not pulled him to the side of the road and the van still knocked us over. Best wishes Lucy

We had a very pleasant stay at wooladon. The barn was a great base with easy access to other parts of Devon. The barn itself was well set out and we liked the open plan style. The new kitchen was lovely. It would be handy to have a few more items in the kitchen, such as pan stands to put hot pans on so units are protected and also somewhere to put dishes to drain after washing as it is not always possible to put things in the dishwasher. Overall a great stay and recommend a visit to the farm shop and restaurant at Strawberry fields.

This is the 3rd year running that we've spent Christmas in the Pheasant Barn. We love it so much. It's warm and comfortable and we can be completely safe and secure in these uncertain times. Our young springer enjoyed the freedom of the dog walks as did I. Hopefully we will soon be booking for next Christmas as we love it so much.

The cottage was clean and welcoming. The bedrooms were comfortable and very large each with a settee, plenty of hanging space for clothes, and the attached showers facilities were equally spacious. All precautions regarding COVID were in place, and the lit, real Christmas Tree made it even more homely and welcoming on arrival. The only downside was there was no Teapot, so the glass jug from the coffee machine had to be used instead. Devon has been very wet over the past few months, so the walks around the estate were very muddy in places, which didn't matter to our Border Collie, and our wellies came in handy. Fortunately we had a dry week, and made use of Strawberry Fields Restaurant and Shop, if only it was closer to our home we wouldn't bother with Supermarkets. We had a great week and Wooladon is a great starting point for visiting the National Trust Properties at Cotehele and Lanhydrock, and of course Tavistock with its panier market, and Bude with its lovely beach. We will be back!

We absolutely loved it here. It was really peaceful and such a relaxing place to return to at the end of a busy day. Really well located for visiting Dartmoor, Bodmin and North Cornwall beaches. The week just flew by. We felt so at home in the gorgeous Pheasant Barn and are now planning how we can return with more of the family!

The cottage is set on a beautiful, vast estate with so many places to explore on foot and animals to see along the way. The cottage was clean and well appointed with lots of space for a family to relax inside and outside. Small touches such as scones, jam and cream on arrival and visits from the owner to check everything was OK, made it feel personal. Strawberry Fields farm shop was within walking distance and sold a huge variety of excellent quality produce and activities to keep children entertained such as a maze, strawberry picking and playground. There was a range of places to eat out locally and lots of beautiful walks plus beaches and attractions within an hour’s drive. My children are already asking when they can go back!

We stayed at Pheasant Barn for 3nights, 4 days & what an amazing stay we had. The cottage was clean, tidy, modern & you couldn’t want for anything more. The location was just perfect. The size of the cottage was just fantastic, there was only 2 adults & a baby, but easily a large family of 4/6 would fit no problem at all. We were so impressed with all the little details that had being thought about in the cottage. A visit to Strawberry Fields Farm Shop is a must! What an amazing place also. We will definitely return to Wooldon Cottages. Thank you for making our first family staycation amazing!

This cottage was around the 20th we’ve rented for our ‘stay at home’ holidays over the last 16 years and this is in our top three! We were a group of 9 so also rented The Rookery as well, We we’re the teenagers in Pheasant Barn and this worked well for us as the grown ups fed us all at the Rookery, but the kitchen facilities and lounge area are fabulous in both cottages. . The communal gardens with seating areas are just divine and we made full use of the lakes and grounds of the Wooladon Estate. The Farm Shop, although a little expensive, has top quality food and the restaurant does a good breakfast. We really appreciated the welcome package in the cottages of a cream tea, a lovely touch and very tasty. A great central spot to visit lots of areas; Bude, Tintagel, Plymouth, Dartmouth, but you could easily spend the week simply relaxing on the estate with lovely walls and scenery. We we all loved our holiday. Thank you

The cottages where excellent and very clean with 2 equal size on suite bedrooms meaning no comprise for either party.
Not only did the farm boast private land with great walking but offered a very private experience with dogs being able to enjoy freedom. The location whilst rural was very central giving access to all the top locations north, south, west and east within less than a hours driving maximum

Had a lovely week in Pheasant barn. There were a couple of small issues but when we raised them with the owners they were rectified immediately and a lovely hamper was given as an apology. Fantastic customer service, stunning grounds and such a spacious property. We have already booked to come back again next year. Strawberry fields farm shop is a must visit the produce is amazing.

We had a lovely stay at Pheasant Barn. We visited with our children and dog and there was plenty of room for everyone. The barn was very clean and everything we needed was there, including a welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs, biscuits and a fab cream tea. All much appreciated. The Strawberry Field farm shop is nearby and we had a hearty breakfast there a few mornings, with the best bacon I have ever tasted! The shop sells lots of beautiful produce. We loved our stay and hope to return soon. Its perfecty located to explore Dartmoor or the Cornish coast.

We stayed during more challenging times due to COVID and the extreme weather conditions and storms caused havoc with the power but we had a very comfortable stay. The WiFi was a bit patchy which was a bit more problematic for our stay as the usual leaflets had been removed in line with government guidelines. The picnic areas also appeared to be off limits but there was ample space in the grounds to get out and wander from the barn. Excellently place for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Adam and Heather and their team were very visible, friendly and helpful and the farm store is excellent. Would recommend it for a relaxing stay.

Whilst we enjoyed our stay we feel it does have things that need updating since our last stay. New toaster needed and attention to detail needs to be kept on top of. In bathrooms thing’s beginning to look tatty around the edges. Sink in kitchen was smelling and very brown needs bleach. Had no internet accessibility throughout our stay and remote broken on TV. Just seems it’s ready for a bit of a refurb
