The Garden Apartment is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment sleeping 4 in the fascinating Grade II listed, 18th Century, Acton Castle. Located near the small rural hamlet of Rosudgeon, Acton Castle stands proud on the cliffs over Mount’s Bay with stunning sea views across Penzance Bay to St Michael’s Mount.

Acton Castle is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by secluded, rocky coves. The spectacular panoramic views from all windows makes this a very special place. With it’s peaceful rural position and sitting right on the coastal path it’s a perfect retreat for walkers, whilst access to secluded coves is wonderful for those looking for a beach holiday.

Amazing views, a very special place to stay

The location is idealic, with the most fantastic view of the coast and St Michael's Mount. On arrival we enjoyed our free bottle of wine looking out over the ocean with the sun setting after a long day of beautiful weather. It's a short steep walk down to the local cove, with lots of great hiking nearby. The single-lane access road is narrow and long, and as in many places of this kind the beds could be larger: but we had a highly memorable time.

You could not find a more beautiful location in which to stay, but the property itself is very dated. It could be stunning if some money was spent on it. It wasn’t very clean ( especially the kitchen - drawers, equipment etc), the main bathroom only had a hand held shower and no shower curtain, no bath mat ( we had to use a tea towel to stand on), no hand towels. It would probably be better for two adults and two children rather than four adults.

Many thanks for your review. We have taken on board all your points and have spoken to the caretaker. We do always offer the caretaker's contact details so if they have forgotten something then they can be called and they will always endeavour to rectify immediately. We also take on board about the property needing maintenance; unfortunately due to the location of the property this is an ongoing battle with the elements and there is continual work going on but nonetheless we will certainly pass this onto the owner. Many thanks, we hope you will stay with Cornish Seaview Cottages in the future.

This was the 3rd time in 9 years that we spent our holidays here, and we are very sorry to say that we were quite disappointed about the state that the apartment is in. Some maintaince work would definitely do the property good... The most prominent problem is the mold. The location, however, remains outstanding. What a beautiful view!

Thank you for your honest review. I have passed your comments on to the owner of the property. The problem is that the granite on the outside of the building is cold and damp through the winter and therefore makes the paint crumble off the walls inside and the sea salt isn't great for the fixtures and fittings - it is a constant battle. I do agree, though, that the views are amazing.

Beautiful location and amazing views. Access to nearby walks and coves, including Prussia Cove.

This is a wonderful location to stay in and the Castle Garden Apartment provides amazing views out to sea and St Michaels Mount. Its so peaceful and although remote you can travel to nearby Towns, beaches, restaurants, etc by car.
For this reason I would definitely recommend this location as a place to stay. However there were a few issues with the property itself and Cornish Sea View Cottages hopefully will look to resolve some of the issues I will mention.
The property was not very clean and there were wet towels left in the washing machine. There was a cot in the wardrobe that smelt of urine and so we moved it into a cupboard for our stay and sprayed the wardrobe. There was no cleaning products as I was informed there would be in an email to settle us in nicely. We found we had to go straight to the shops to buy these essentials and then do a spot of cleaning. We also had to contact the Housekeeper on arrival due to these issues. She did come in the next 30 mins and work towards resolving which was helpful. I had to also report one on the paving stones which was loose and could have led to an accident on the stairs leading to the front entrance. Somebody did come and repair this during the week.
Despite these issues we had a lovely holiday in an amazing location. We would just recommend that the apartment receives some much needed care and attention to detail which is lacking. For example the guidebooks been out of date and falling apart. Empty boxes left in the freezer from other visitors. The first aid boxes have empty packages and have not been re-stocked.

The most stunning and peaceful location, close to the coast path and overlooking the magnificent Mounts Bay. The apartment is roomy enough for four people and is well stocked though some of the fittings are in need of repair.
