Originally constructed to house the horse drawn carriages of wealthy Victorian visitors to the Tor Hotel in the mid to late 1800’s, this home is just metres from the beach and has been beautifully restored to offer guests stylish accommodation in a unique seaside position.

Step inside and you’ll discover a sumptuous ground floor bedroom with its own luxurious en-suite shower room. Chunky window reveals nod to the building’s humble past and lend a characterful charm to this room with a walk-in closet providing additional hanging space for coats and jackets.

A staircase leads up to the first floor which opens on to a bright, double volume open plan living and kitchen area, complete with original exposed roof timbers. Pendulum lighting and stylish soft furnishings make for a welcoming space, with sink in sofas and a large flat screen TV creating the perfect place to spend time and unwind in. The Shaker-style kitchen is well-equipped and ideal for preparing a home cooked meal or two in, and with a fabulous farm shop within just a short drive from the property, guests can whip up a few Devon-inspired creations of their own.

On this floor guests will also discover a fantastic family bathroom as well as a second bedroom, elegantly furnished with two large single beds. The vaulted ceiling with large angled windows flood the room with light making it a gorgeous space to enjoy some much needed downtime in.

The village of Torcross is well known for being perched on a stunning three mile stretch of shingle beach. The calm, clear waters and safe swimming conditions make it a popular choice for visitors, and the ideal location for a family or friends looking to spend a relaxing break in one of the most beautiful parts of South Devon.

We have just enjoyed our second stay at The Barn this year. For us it provides perfect holiday accommodation. We like being close to the beach, the ley and Start Bay Inn. It is easy to get to Dartmouth and Brixham in one direction and Kingsbridge and Salcombe the other way. We will soon be booking our next visit to The Barn.

Nice Place all being that its in the car park but this didnt put us off, as i know somebody who had also stayed there, they said it was nice and roomy and it was specially upstairs (open Plan)
Nice walkin shower downstairs and a large bath upstairs Beds were comfortable and we would stay again.

We have been staying At The Beach on a regular basis for 15 years. The Barn provides perfect accommodation for us. The location is ideal. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are easy to reach and The Start Bay Inn is only a short walk away. We love being so close to the sea and will return again soon.

Was a fabulous stay at the 21 Barn Torcross. The apartment is well equipped with all the facilities you would need for your stay.
It was certainly a haven within walking distance to the beach and coastal paths.
A very good location for a family who are looking for a quiet escape.

What a wonderful place to stay! It is in an amazing location within a few minutes' walk of the beach and a cafe and pub. My husband and I stayed at The Barn, 21 At The Beach, between Christmas and New Year. We had a wonderful break. The house was beautiful and immaculate, with everything we needed. Having the beach within a few minutes walk was lovely. We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the local cafe and a Sunday lunch in the pub all within a few minutes walk.
A bonus for my husband was parking his classic car in the garage!
Both Luxury Coastal and the Coastal Concierge were very helpful and efficient. We would love to return to the house and will use Luxury Coastal again.

We are regular visitors to The Barn. The accommodation is perfect for us. And the location is great. We like the Start Bay Inn and Stokeley’s Farm Shop - both close by, and Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are easy to get to. But being by the sea is the best.

we really enjoyed our recent five nights stay. We travelled with a toddler and we met with lots of kindness from hosts. The amenities were fantastic and the location perfect. Tight garage space but we sorted it out :) I was impressed with the available kitchen items. A perfect home base and we will definitely be staying at Luxury Coastal locations again!

Communication beforehand was good. We were advised we could access the property any time on the day of arrival as the cleaners would have been in the night before.
However on arrival at 10.30 the property was not ready and the cleaners were there. A little disappointing after a 4 hour drive.
A quick phone call and I was advised a last minute 1 night stay had been booked so the situation had changed. No huge drama but this should have been communicated to us and we would have revised our plans.
Other than that we enjoyed a lovely stay. Property larger than expected and well equipped and very comfortable. We were not affected by the building work that was mentioned previously. In fact we only saw a couple of builders our entire stay, all very quiet.
The garage was large and I was able to reverse our audi Q5 in, no problem.
We are familiar with the area so visited some of our favourite places. Stokely Cafe for breakfast, The billy can for cake, The boathouse for fish and chips and a lovely meal at The Start Bay Inn!
Beautiful walks, scenery and beaches.
We can't wait to return!
The property exceeded our expectations especially as it was only booked a few weeks prior to us coming. Would definitely recommend.

We booked The Barn 21 At The Beach to have a few days away with our daughter and son in law. Prior to departing from home we were emailed by Luxury Coastal to give us the various key codes and a few rules of the house. On arrival we were pleased the find the accommodation was just as advertised, well equipped for 4 and very close to the beach. ( Not that the weather encouraged beach going). The only slight problem, the electrically operated garage door which after putting the car in would not lower. I informed Luxury Coastal and said that it this was not a problem as I was quite happy to leave it open. Aside from this slight problem, we had an excellent few days and I would happily re-book The Barn 21, At The Beach. and recommend Luxury Coastal for holiday accommodation.

The cottage was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay there; however there were some areas of disappointment when reality did not match the website description. Bedroom 1 described as sumptuous with a walk in closet. Wooden floors and venetian blinds whilst contemporary are not sumptuous. No walk in closet although there was a locked door in the room, but plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Do not leave plastic retailers' hangers in the wardrobe - its a bad impression.
Master en-suite was lovely with a fantastic shower - but nowhere to put toiletries except the floor (a personal hate of mine).

Living area again very comfortable and is well equipped in terms of gadgets, but I have never stayed in a property where the number of oven gloves exceeds the number of teaspoons - there were only two (unmatched) teaspoons and three oven gloves! Glasses similarly mismatched 2 (different) white, I red and one gin glass - so four adults staying could not have shared a bottle of wine. We were promised the makings of a cuppa, but no milk and a variety of jars with small amounts of sugar of indeterminate age looked most unappealing.
Under sink cupboards not very clean.
Three lovely industrial style lampshades all had different shaped and coloured bulbs and one of the wall lights had a spent bulb. (Incidentally our pre-arrival paperwork had suggested that there would be a sheet to record issues - there wasn't)
Guest bedroom - had we travelled, as we often do to 2 bed, 2 bath properties with my brother and sister in law) we would have struggled with the 2nd room. Large enough and looked comfortable, but towels only provided for 3 people and only 3 tiny plastic children's hangers in the wardrobe.

The garage was a bonus and we were able to get our reasonable sized car in and get out of doors quite easily, however the garage door was a worry with a far from smooth roller action which was accompanied with ominous crashing and banging leaving us with the worry that there was a strong likelihood of it ceasing to function at any moment leaving the car trapped inside.
The website describes the cottage as being "Beachside" - whilst it is a matter of seconds to walk to the beach and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that as the former stables to the Torcross Hotel, there wouldn't be a beach view. We had worked that out - others won't. The views of the car park (front) and building site (back) are not visible anyway due to very dirty windows.
Our pre-visits instructions were contradictory and the last code we were given for the key safe was the wrong one and the garage fob did not work at all. Fortunately when we arrived at the cottage the owner was there and was able to provide the correct code and replace the garage door fob with his own.
In summary we loved the area, and we think you have a nice property which with a few tweaks, and less of an emphasis on a party of four being 2 adults and 2 children, could be an excellent and luxurious cottage to which we would return and happily pay a little bit more out of season.
It gives too much of an impression of being agency run rather than owner run and a little bit more care would make a huge difference.

On the plus side the apartment was very nice inside and as described in the online description. Model decor, comfortable, and only 2 minutes from the beach.

However nowhere does it say the barns are in the car park for the main building. We were pre-warned after booking that there were going to be some building works at the rear of the buildings. This was not some works but an entire building site with diggers, trucks etc. So one side was a car park and the other a building site.

The property could also have been cleaner. Whilst kitchen and bathrooms were clean there were loads of cobwebs, under the sofas were filthy (including food), and the windows were also filthy. Given the building site out the back you would have thought the windows would be cleaned regularly.

Loved torcross and the location of at the beach, just not liked not being told about the (not fully clean) apartment being in the car park.

Returning customer so knew what to expect. Chaps from the Billy Can who look after this one are so friendly and helpful. Weather understandably in March was not the best but great to arrive in the wet and cold to a lovely warm and cosy property.
