Newquay, is within easy reach too so if you’re looking to spend a day surfing the famous swells at Fistral or visiting the aquarium with the kids, you won’t have far to travel.
The village itself is friendly and welcoming with a small grocery store and garden centre, as well as a handful of shops. If you fancy eating out, the Bay Tree restaurant (in the garden centre) is a lovely spot for a light bite, and if you’re looking for a traditional pub lunch there’s the New Inn just down the road. Surrounded by countryside, visitors who enjoy walking have their pick of numerous circular walks around Goonhavern. These routes include a circular path through the woods of the Lappa Valley, the nature reserve at Ventongimps, and the fascinating St. Pirans Round which has the ruins of a medieval amphitheatre.
