We loved staying at Howgills House and the hot tub was a particular hit! The only v small thing was when in the shower the hot air sucks the curtain in and it sticks on you! Makes it hard to keep the floor dry. Maybe replace with a screen? A drying room would be useful after all those wet walks! The social areas worked really well and it enabled us to spend time with my mum safely. Thanks so much!

We stayed at this holiday accommodation in the Yorkshire dales in August 2020 . We appear to have been exceptionally fortune in being the first guest since the lockdown, during which time there had been renovations. The entire place had a new and fresh feel to it. The photos on the website did not do the property justice, it was much larger in reality than the photos had given us the impression of. The kitchen facilities were all well apportioned and the drinks cooler was a welcome bonus, especially as the week we were there was very hot. The 2 hot tubs were a big hit and the owner kind...more
The apartment provided a comfortable base on our return from walking in the hills, plenty of lovely places to eat out and all within short walk.
The first floor flat has views over the village to complement the interior comforts. Even my dog has enjoyed that and he has been made welcome! For cleanliness and comfort the flat can’t be faulted. The booking procedure was straightforward and the ‘in-house’ Staff unfailingly helpful. On site parking is convenient. The local walking is excellent whether along the rivers or on the tops. Larger towns are not far away for all the shops (and Wensleydale cheese) Kendal, Hawes, Penrith. The sea is only 30 mins away at Grange and the central Lakes, 45 minutes to Windermere and Ambleside. If you’re...more
All I can say is wow! Was fabulous from start to finish with everything you could ever need! And the hot tub is fabulous!
After 3 days walking in the rain and two nights in a bivvy bag it was the height of comfort to have a hot shower and comfortable bed. Excellent facilities
Amazing views! Easy stroll into town. Great walks on the doorstep. Well equipped kitchen. Bed and pillows were super comfy! The only slight negative was the settee in the living room was quite worn. A couple of small suggestions that would be useful are: doorstops, as the spring loaded doors make it hard to carry luggage in. Also a handrail on the communal stairs (to flat 11/12) I had a really nice peaceful get away, just what I needed. I also loved the sparkly walls in the bathroom.
Hi Fantastic location. WARM rooms. Lovely clean bedding and bathrooms. We only were charged per bed. Thank you. The barn was open during the day which was helpful and we could park our cars there whilst we walked so it was all very laid back. Plenty of fridge space, cutlery, glasses and crockery however, one cooker over heated badly, not sure how the dishwasher worked and I think you should buy some brand new pans! We couldnt experience the Hot Tub for some reason........ which was disappointing.
I booked directly with Howgills Apartments as I had very specific requirements for my elderly parents who I was taking on a short break. Dawn who dealt with my booking was extremely helpful. The apartment suited us very well. The only comments I would make are , there were no instructions for how the heating/ hot water system worked and the sofas although lovely and squishy are too low for anyone with joint problems. Other than that perfect for our needs.
We wanted a last minute no frills family room in the middle of nowhere with fantastic walks from the door. We also wanted hot tub access. The rooms were basic but had all you needed. The kitchen was well stocked, spacious and easy to use. The living/dining space was relaxed and again spacious. The hot tub was the highlight due to the views as you soaked. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. For a last minute night away it was a little over priced in my Yorkshire opinion and the hidden dog charge/ hot tub charge wasn't advertised on the website but we thoroughly enjoyed our entire sta...more
