The Pool House is a unique holiday home built partly from Cotswold stone from Prinknash Abbey, boasting stylish interiors, spacious living areas and a landscaped garden complete with hot tub and heated swimming pool. Located on the edge of the Stroud Valley, this fabulous property is perfect for get togethers with loved ones or friends.

My partner and I stayed here as a surprise weekend away for her 30th Birthday. Our friends joined us mid-stay for a few nights also.

The location is amazing. It’s within great distance to local amenities and restaurants and perfect for just walking around the picturesque countryside.

The lodge itself is not something I’ve stayed in before. It felt like something from a James Bond film, with movie posters on the walls and mid century furniture. It was very cosy indeed and we loved our stay. It was warm and comfy.

The only criticism I would give is that in 2026, there should be better WiFi coverage, and a modern TV. The TV is extremely old with a Roku box connected for Netflix etc but quality is poor, so could be modernised. It’s nice to snuggle up to a movie after a long day walking and evening in the hot tub.
The bathroom was a little outdated and needed some TLC and the lodge was full of cobwebs on the ceilings/shelves.

Despite these minor “personal preferences”, the lodge is very good value and we would like to return in the summer with access to the pool.

We are disappointed to learn that you did not contact the property owner during your stay to raise any of the concerns mentioned in your review. As part of the booking conditions, we do ask that guests report any issues during their stay in order to try and give the owner or their property manager a fair opportunity to rectify any issues. We wanted a girls weekend somewhere relaxing to recharge, and we got exactly that.
The pool was a lot of fun and the fire made it feel very homely when sat watching films.
Location was perfect, easy walking distance into town.

What a wonderful place to stay, we loved that pool house, the space inside and out, the views, the decor and the owner and the lady that take care of it were lovely.
We had really nice weather so enjoyed the pool which was heated and the hot tub though takes a very long time to heat with logs lol
Been great communication throughout too.

Just needed a catch up with old friends & love the outdoors,, so wanted to test out a log fired wood burner , just ordered same one , easy to use & maintain temperature
