Myrtle Cottage is a lovely home from home in a lovely place. I feel there is a little confusion over the name, we arrived in the dark and could only find Myrtle House so this caused a little worry until we realised that they are one and the same. The cottage is well equipped, so if you want to cook rather than eat out everything you need is there. The conservatory is a lovely addition but could have been made more comfortable and cosy as the day bed in there was a little high to sit comfortably on and it was a nice place for coffee or just to read. The addition of a blind in the shower room would have been very welcome as well. Although the glass is frosted, with the toilet being right in front of the window it felt very exposed at night when the light was on. Also the mattress in the bedroom with the shower room was a little soft and sunk down so it felt like climbing uphill to get out. Despite these minor issues we would definitely recommend, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Myrtle Cottage is an excellent, very well equipped house that is both welcoming and comfortable. The cooler evenings (late September) were dealt with easily by the easy to operate heating system. We did not need to use the log burner but it will be a welcome addition when the cold winter nights and days arrive! The house is situated very close to the "Gateway to the Cotswolds" (Burford) and is within easy reach of all the notable Cotswold villages/towns. As well as Burford, Stow on the Wold and Broadway are essential visits. We even managed a meal at Jeremy Clarkson's "Farmers Dog" - virtually impossible to book at this time of year, but if you're prepared to wait, an hour or so on the waiting list and you'll be accommodated - well worth the wait.
This will be our "go to place" when we next visit the Cotswolds.

Myrtle Cottage is ideally situated for exploring The Cotswolds. The accommodation is spacious, has everything needed for a home to home experience. The master bedroom has a very comfortable bed and fabulous en suite power shower. There are additional rooms upstairs for larger families or groups of friends. Well equipped kitchen with large dining area and dishwasher. The courtyard is to the front which needed some tidying due to overgrown brambles and weeds. Our dog wasn’t keen on the paving so we walked her outside to grass areas for her to do her business. There is no rear garden as it’s taken up by the conservatory, ideal for providing extra living space. Overall a fantastic place to stay.

Situated in the beautiful village of Shipton-under-Wychwood we were delighted with Myrtle Cottage.
Accommodation was roomy and comfortable. Beds were a little soft but we got used to them. Very clean and lots of storage space and equipment. The paved garden was lovely and was very popular with our dog Archie. There was ample parking space to the side of the house. A few welcome grocery items would have been a nice touch and perhaps can be provided for future guests.
We had a problem during our stay which was quickly resolved by the owner. A few welcome grocery items would have been nice.
There is a village shop across the road and the location is handy for many of the Cotswold attractions.

Myrtle Cottage was a great place to stay for a week - well equipped with everything you need, a wonderful sun room, great shower, and the comfiest bed! Really spacious cottage with a lovely feel to it in a lovely quiet location with a convenience store across the road and a couple of cafes and pubs within walking distance. The Whychwood Wild Garden was about a 15 minute walk and was a must see if in the area. Having the parking space was also a bonus! Would definitely recommend this cottage and would stay again!
