We had a lovely time at Wren Cottage. It was perfect for us as a couple with a small toddler. The place has been done to a very high standard. There was everything you could need in the kitchen. The road was noisy but we had ear plugs so it didn’t bother us. The location was excellent and parking right outside.

We loved the location, perfectly placed for exploring Stow and environs with excellent Cotswold walks and superb hostelries all within easy reach. Despite being close to the busy Fosse Way the traffic noise was barely intrusive and parking was plentiful.

The overall cleanliness was marginal and the large bathroom mirror was filthy. The shower glass needed maintenance and would not serve its purpose without wedging with cloths. Most importantly, the wood burner is in dire need of repair: it leaks badly and cannot be sealed, result: works more like a furnace than an economical fire.

Simply put too many chefs, owner > agent > sub agent > cleaners/maintenance. Recommend a proper examination of the property between clients by a thorough individual.

Wren Cottage has the potential to meet higher standards.

We are disappointed to learn that you did not contact the property owner during your stay to raise any of the concerns mentioned in your review. As part of the booking conditions, we do ask that guests report any issues during their stay in order to try and give the owner or their property manager a fair opportunity to rectify any issues. A contact telephone number and email address are provided in the welcome email in case of such an event. The property owner has confirmed that the log burner passed its service in October with no issues. We do hope that overall, you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!

A really enjoyable stay at wren cottage. Amazing value for money and such a great location. Road was quite noisy but we still slept super well in the comfy beds.

Anything we needed was responded to promptly. Would definitely recommend and stay again :)

Wren Cottage is the perfect cottage for a stay in Stow-on-the-Wold. Walking distance to everything in Stow and close to all the gorgeous villages of the Cotswolds. Being able to park out the front of the cottage was ideal and the cottage itself very comfortable and cozy. We had nights in for dinner with all the relevant kitchen supplies available and nights out in the village just around the corner. Whilst on the main road into/past the village, there was no road noise from within the cottage. Can't recommend highly enough - we had a magnificent stay and would definitely go back! The chocolate biscuits left for our arrival a very nice touch!

When booking Wren cottage by telephone I asked if we could have the super-king arrangement , I also requested this via e-mail to confirm. Upon arriving at the property this hadn't been done and it was still a twin configuration. I did know that the property was near to a road when booking but can I just say its a constantly busy road opposite a service station and by a junction the noise for us was a problem as its constant it was like being next to a motorway and difficult to have the windows open. The property is a lovey old building and personally whilst the owners can't do anything about the road what they can do is improve how it feels to stay there. Plant pots outside with weeds in, front room windows and glass in door in and beyond filithy -which I ended up cleaning, Fire not cleaned whilst we did not use you couldn't see through the glass it was that sooty and had the remnants of someone else's fire.Throws just any old how , Children's hair bobbles in one of the drawers and other things under the sofa when I was hoovering. Half a toilet roll was left which I used most of the 1st night collecting and picking up dead woodlice all over and a hills packet of custard creams and a pint of milk was the welcome pack. Baby highchair left in the dining room and a baby gate at the top of steep stairs that was a trip hazzard. There was room in the cottage to store these elsewhere. Clearly this had not been moved from either the owners staying who they mention have young children in guest info or previous guests. which is quite frankly lazy. There was toothpaste spatter on the bathroom window and holder and bathroom mug and things like the pan cupboard hadn't been checked so some pans were dirty and just chucked in any old how. We only had one meal in the house but had to clean pans and re-organise. When hoovering I noticed spare duvets just thrown under the beds unwrapped so guessing no hoovering under there happens ever ! they should be in bags to protect from dust/bugs as the cottage has a real problem with woodlice with us finding several a day upstairs and downstairs.This is an issue, I suspect the property has a bit of a damp problem and the shower door not working problem with water running down the inside of the bath panal is probably not helping. There are stains on the kitchen ceiling showing this is a problem and its creating damp. Some of the furniture was either badly arranged or placed such as pictures wonky, a couple of old smelly floral arrangements that just need binning they do not brighten the place up and just a general malaise about the place, it doesn't smell good but improved after I had cleaned it. The wardrobes are open with an assortment of mismatching hangers unifying these ie all wood would make it look better. Thankfully we were only there 4 days on the way to somewhere else and had the weather not been so good allowing us to be out all day we would have left early. The owners need to decide if they want a 2nd home or a holiday let if its the latter they need to do more research into the standard guests expect and put more effort in kiddy clutter should be kept out of sight unless you have a family booking . I've had holiday cottages myself for many years they are hard work but a pot plant on the courtyard table, curb appeal weed removal and removing used damp mop heads and leaving a clean one for customers cost nothing along with sanitary bedding. I don't think its a nice start to anyone's holiday to remove a smelly mop head that was propped up in the kitchen (which I ended up removing the head washing drying before use) and quite frankly don't bother leaving a 24 p pack of cheap biscuits its a bit of an insult . As a suggestion stay cotswold should have their brand essentials and ensure that any property they take on adheres to these as many other companies do.

Perfect location with lots on-hand; Only downside was the location to a very busy main road which has a lot of traffic from early morning and all through the day, other than that it is an ideal cottage with plenty of great walks in all directions; Stow has some lovely pub/restaurants to end the day in too.

Lovely country style cottage with lots of character and original features, very well equipped and beautifully decorated with plenty of space. Great location on the edge of Stow with lots of places to eat, drink and shop nearby and some good walks. Only small negatives would be there is some traffic noise so light sleepers might want to bring earplugs, and the 5pm check in time was quite late (normally would expect it to be 3pm especially when there's an early 10am checkout too).

We were very impressed with Wren Cottage. It was very clean and beautifully appointed. The location in Stow on the Wold was excellent for all the shops and restaurants. The beds were very comfy and the cottage itself was charming. Being in Stow on the Wold itself you do hear some traffic noise but surprisingly little. The outside patio is very sunny in the morning for coffee.
