Royal Oak Cottage is in a great location a short walk from the centre. It is a very spacious and pleasant cottage with nice gardens.We would have rated the cottage excellent if minor maintenance issues had been dealt with and the provision of kitchen equipment was more practical. We enjoyed our stay and the shops and restaurants in the town.

Good:
* Charming cottage in a good location just a couple of mins walk to town
* Easy check in / access process
* Most things in good working order, well maintained and clean

Bad:
* Heating controls / thermostat a bit of a pain - house was regularly extremely hot until I reset all of the programs
* Kitchen equipment and supplies OK - blunt knives, no coffee (odd as milk was provided)
* Missing pieces from child stair gate
* Largely clean throughout, but could have been a touch better

On arrival the exterior of the cottage looks tired and immediately the maintenance issues were apparent. The kitchen tap was very unstable and lightbulbs weren't working in the sitting room. The sitting room would benefit from a refresh and dog hair on the rug is off putting for non dog owners. However the log fire was effective as was the heating (though managing the thermostat proved tricky). The kitchen was well equipped and upstairs the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Very comfortable beds with nice linen and clean bathrooms. Lovely view over the garden and a peaceful feel.

We’re glad to hear you found the bedrooms comfortable, the bathrooms clean, and enjoyed the view and peaceful atmosphere, as well as the effectiveness of the log fire and heating. The housekeepers do their best to removal all traces of pets however some fur will remain as it gets stuck in carpet fibres. We have forwarded your feedback to the property managers so they can investigate and address the wobbly tap and the sitting room lighting. We do hope that you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!

The location of the cottage is perfect for chipping Camden high street, not in the main road but very close. The cottage is comfortable, stylishly furnished with lovely well-enough, equipped kitchen. The location is ideal for lovely walks to Broadway, Blockley and Dovers Hill. We would love a return visit
