I keep coming back as I discover more things I can do in the area. There are stars to view at night, weather permitting; walks in the Galloway Forest Park; history in many corners of Galloway; good roads for cycling; bird watching places, near Castle Douglas and on the Solway Firth. Thank you, Iain, for your friendly hospitality.
The cottage was clean, well equipped and spacious. The cottage was in the middle of nowhere, which meant that it had wonderful views and starry skies with no light pollution. You could drive to Gatehouse of Fleet or the Laggan wedding venue in around 10 minutes. There was an enclosed garden and plenty of space to park. Any queries prior to the holiday were answered very promptly.
We had a great few days in The Barn with our daughter and grandchildren, even the dog came too. We thought only 1 downstairs bathroom would be a challenge but it wasn’t really an issue. The views are wonderful and so much to explore in the surrounding areas. The property is well equipped and the hot tub is an added bonus.
Fantastic place to stay. Stunning scenery, great location and if you like cycling then the variety of terrain is outstanding.
This was our third stay at Claughan and once again, we really enjoyed it. On previous visits we had stayed in Valley View but this time due to Valley View being unavailable we stayed at The Stable which was a bit smaller, but had everything we needed nonetheless. It's in a great location for exploring the area and the owners are very friendly and helpful should you need anything. I'm sure we'll be returning as soon as we can!
