The cottage at Murton Grange was just perfect for us to 'drop out' after a very busy year. The access to Monks Cross for shopping was perfect, all one one level made it really easy and we slept well in the cosy bedrooms. Being a complex we wondered if it might be noisy with other guests but it certainly was very quiet, and nice to see others enjoying their holidays too. Certainly recommend.

We only booked for 2 nights stay but would love to off stayed longer. The cottage was beyond what we expected. And Corrina when we asked if we could leave later than the departure time without issue said we could leave as we saw fit that day. Would highly recommend staying at Murton Cottages.

We didn’t stay in cottage 3 due to building work. It was a bit difficult as we had a wheelchair user and this was the only accessible cottage, however, the staff upgraded us to a bigger cottage (we booked two) and made sure we were able to access with the wheelchair.
The cottages are a great place to stay, they came fully equipped, better than I expected. There is plenty of parking and outdoor space.
In one of our cottages the fire alarm kept beeping, we arranged with the foreman on site to get it fixed. However it beeped through the night leaving guests unable to sleep. But first thing in the morning they had fixed the alarm and it didn’t cause any other bother.
Both cottages have a fridge and freezer, unfortunately both fridges were not very cold and the stuff we had in them were not cold. Again we made the foreman aware of this and we were given an extra cottage for the fridge bits. Most places wouldn’t have been as accommodating but I felt the staff at Murton Grange couldn’t have been better.
Throughout the booking process they were helpful and friendly. I would 100% recommended people to stay here for their next visit to York

Short drive from York centre. Facilities are just what was needed. Rented cottages 1 and 2 which looked newly refurbished so expect cottage 3 to follow suit.

On arriving the smell hit us straight away and it was so warm in this cottage I personally couldn’t stay in it. We tried to work the thermostat to turn it down/off but weren’t sure what we were doing even with the instructions it just seemed to be stuck on high? The cottage wasn’t as modern as the other and although advertised a bath it was just a wet room which didn’t bother us. Decor was dated but again that didn’t affect our stay. What did however was the stench of damp/mould. And on inspection there was a full grown mushroom growing out the floor with black mould all around it! As there were pregnant ladies in our group and because of the heating we decided not to stay in that cottage and just use the other we’d booked. The man on site wasn’t bothered neither was the cleaner/ both saying it wasn’t there the day before?! :-/ and when bringing it to the attention of manager along with other some other small issues she dismissed us also saying we had the choice not to stay & we should have brought it to her attention the first day?! (We showed it Ben whom you’re supposed to report any issues to?) So for that purpose we wouldn’t stay at Murton Grange again or recommend it.

I needed accomodation in the general location chosen. The people dealing with the booking, etc. were extremely helpful. The property is spacious and clean. There is plenty of parking. Everything was as I expected it to be.

Very professional team with great customer service.
We rented two cottages for three nights over Xmas, which worked well for our group.
The cottages were warm and well equipped, but couple of things could be improved on - this cottage has great layout for those with disabilities, which was useful to us, but the sofas were a little too low, and hard for our elderly parents.
Since we were cooking for large group the quality of utensils such as peelers, veg knives, and cutlery could benefit from an upgrade.
All in all very happy.

We were travelling with adults and students on a school trip and had very specific requirements for staying close to York. All of which were met by the lovely staff at Murton Grange. They went above and beyond to help our group with the accommodation and anything else needed. The team had a great stay and a good night's sleep - Would absolutely recommend!

Cottage was excellent with the onsite manager very helpful and informative, nothing was too much trouble. Location is good and secluded, tricky to find initially but thankfully the sat nav was working well. York was easy access by car as was the large shopping centre a few minutes away.
The disabled facilities had just been refurbished and were excellent for both disabled members of our party.
If we are in the area again I would book this holiday cottage again.

The remote location probably very good for noisey hen/stag parties, however a bit too remote for a family visit trip. Double bed too small, much better with two singles. Windows are on their last legs, replacement definitely a priority.

Was good stay with basic of everything. We thought that there needed to be a grab rail in the shower for people with mobility issues there was nothing to pull them up whilst in the shower. Also the seating in the lounge was very low and very difficult to sit on and get up from if there are issues with mobility.
The sofa beds were awful to sleep on, they tip up if you are on the edge and a single occupant, Also very uncomfortable to sleep on the other way.

Used this as overspill as we couldn’t fit everybody in the bigger cottage. Cottage 3 is spacious and clean and has great facilities! Comfy sofa beds too and only a quick walk across the car park to the hot tub cottages where we held the main events!

Booked 3 cottages for a hen weekend, was exactly what we needed and accommodated the 20+ people with ease. Found the communication to be easy and straight forward with the venue as were the bookings for the events we had planned. The cottages were spacious and clean and there were no problems with noise or other guests.

Only thing to note would be that the disabled toilet door sticks badly, and the bed rooms didn't heat up as much as the living space so was a little chilly at night - but I'm always cold!

En suite shower controls are counter intuitive also and seemed to be either boiling or freezing

We hired 2 cottages for my sister's hen party. It was perfect for a girls weekend away! The cottages were clean and presentable they allowed us to decorate with all the usuall tacky hen party bits! The caretaker on site was nice and friendly and always easy to find if you needed him for anything! I'd also recommend Alan's taxi's... He's a legend!

The cottage was well presented and had everything we needed for our stay. Make sure you make use of the information book, as we discovered Alan the taxi driving man (top of the list) and he MADE our weekend. He was friendly, gave advice on the area, reasonably priced and most of all had a disco in the back of his cab!! Funniest time ever!!

Having left booking a cottage for a hen weekend a little late I stumbled upon Murton Grange who usually only rent for a minimum of two night stays however they went out of their way to accommodate us and allowed for us to rent the property for one night.
The cottage was extremely clean, well equipped and in a great location for a girls night in.
Along with the booking we were provided with a hot tub...which was a great addition to the cottage, and a bbq which was also great.
I can't praise this accommodation enough...the beds were probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in away from home!
Absolutely great...can't recommend this place enough!

I have stayed at the cottages a couple of times and have always gone back to them as my first choice for looking for somewhere to stay in York. The location is perfect and the cottages are lovely. I have not had any issues with my stay. My first stay was for a hen do and we used 3 cottages and the second for new year and used 2 cottages and I have just recently booked again for another hen do. I would definitely recommend the cottages. Plus the hot tubs are a great relaxing addition to your stay.

Spacious and comfortable cottage to stay. Good facility, quiet and peaceful. Friendly staff. Horses over the field were very nice and friendly. We did enjoy feeding them. We would like to return when opportunity arises.

Met the needs of a large family group with a dog and also someone with dog allergies as we void have 3 cottages. Very easy to get park and ride into York.
