From the moment we arrived we said we’d definitely come back and nothing changed our opinion during our stay. The facilities were excellent and the lodge was spotlessly clean. We met the owner who was friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault it and we’ll definitely be back.
Beautiful house inside and out. The most well stocked holiday home we have ever stayed in. The house is very comfortable, and a great spot to enjoy lots of different areas in the highland.
As a group of eight friends we met up at the Barn for a weekend together. Whilst it's only a couple of miles from Settle, it's at the end of a very long lane from the road and it's completely secluded, the perfect location for a 'getaway' break. Make sure you take everything you need with you as it's not somewhere you can just 'nip out' from - it took us 20 minutes in a car from the barn to the junction with the road. Not that you need to go anywhere - the Barn itself is a fabulous place. Converted to exceptional standards with luxurious furnishings and facilities - it literally has everything...more
Wow, Bowland loft is 5 star! The accommodation is well resourced and everything is of a very high quality, from bedding to carpets and decor! The shower is push button and was excellent and spacious - just loved it! Comfy sofa and fabulous kitchen island. Knowledgeable helpful owners who gave us ideas of fell walks!
We had a lovely time staying here despite the weather! The location is excellent allowing trips to either Lakes or Dales, the Barn is full of top of the range and new furnishings and finished lovely. The hot tub is also excellent (although takes a long time to heat up so could have been turned on before we arrived - only small gripe). Would recommend to anyone.
A very relaxing week in Ruskin's View in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale. Extremely well equipped and warm accommodation. Owners provided a lovely welcome hamper and home made chocolate cake. Would highly recommend this property.
Definitely worth a stay. The cottage is everything you would like for a peaceful and cosy break. Surrounded by lovely scenery and plenty of walks to choose from, its definitely worth the visit.
We stayed at New Thornber to celebrate my 50th birthday, and to walk the Three Peaks. We arrived to find that Laura had decorated the house with balloons and banners, a lovely surprise. The house is gorgeous, and the welcome hamper a nice addition. All rooms were bright and there were views from every window, you had to choose where to look! We slept every night with the curtains open so we woke up to sheep and cows, and the sounds of birds tweeting. Bliss. Everything we needed was there, and I fell in love with the kitchen. Having a boot room was perfect for keeping muddy shoes out of the way...more
We stayed as a family for a long weekend. Six adults and 2 young children and it just so happened to be mothers day on the Sunday. The house is lovely and easily accommodated us all. It has all the equipment etc you could need. Even the hot tub was used by some on a very windy evening. It is near to the centre of the beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale with excellent places to eat. A good time was had by all.
Wow., Perfect., Such a lovely cottage with homely but modern interiors, and plenty of space for two couples and their cars to spend their joint anniversaries. We especially liked the large boot/utility area for soggy walking kit, as it inevitably rained a lot while we were there. Just what scabble and a glass of wine infront of the fire was invented for. But when the sun came out it was so worth it, the views are amazing. Would love to visit in the summer to fully appreciate. You feel remote and at one with the dales, yet have access to so many places to visit, villages, towns, waterfalls, ca...more
Beautiful barn conversion, the photographs don’t do it justice. The location is remote but only a few miles away from Settle which was worth a visit. Will definitely return.
A lovely house furnished to a high standard and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Location was beautiful (once the rain cleared!).
Loved staying in this quirky place. Very comfortable with everything you need. Lovely welcome pack. The cake was delist. Our anxious dog loved running around and exploring the big enclosed garden.
A comfortable and stylishly renovated barn where we enjoyed a 3 night break. Close to Sedbergh which has a good coffee shop and some independent shops. Weather was rather wet so were not able to make the most of the bi-fold doors onto a lovely decking but great views.
We really enjoyed this place it had all the amenities you need, the place was clean on arrival. Altogether a very nice place to stay and relax
We stayed for 5 nights in this wonderful barn conversion. Excellent facilities and everything you could want in your accommodation. Owners are really lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be booking a different cottage with them in the future.
We stayed at Le Bastidou for one week and could have stayed for ever. The house has been newly renovated and is absolutely immaculate. The pool and gardens are wonderful and we spent a couple of days relaxing when we weren't out and about enjoying the local area. On Julie's recommendation we took the passenger ferry across to St Tropez rather than drive . Great experience watching all the super yachts going into port in the evening. The local village is very authentic with lovely bars and cafes. Would thoroughly recommend and we can't wait to go back next year
Ideal place for a weekend break lots of mod cons very impressive conversion fantastic kitchen and dining room great for families although one en-suite was a little snug close to Kirkby Lonsdale lovely shopping, walks and supermarket would stay again if in that part of the country
We’ve stayed at Mill House Cottages many times as we love the location. The scenery is breathtaking and it’s so peaceful. This was our first time in Mill House Cottage. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay for 3 adults. A bonus having 2 bathrooms. Beautiful walks even in the rain. Appreciated the cosy log burner in the evenings.
An extremely comfortable stay, right in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. Fabulous walks from the door and easy walking access to pubs and restaurants in town.
Really enjoyed our stay at The Stables. Kirkby Lonsdale is two minutes away and has everything you need, good butcher, bakery and green grocer. Ideally located for outdoors exploring with an endless supply of walking and biking routes either from the door step or by car. Very well looked after by the hosts Anneka & Patrick, would really recommend without doubt.
We had a fab time here at the Pavilion to celebrate our anniversary, it is in a lovely and ideal location with great views from both the bed and the hot tub! The only thing that I can fault is the amount of thick cobwebs there was in the bathroom and the bedroom which resulted in lots of spiders during our stay! Apart from that we had a comfortable and great stay.
We had an enjoyable family stay with people of all ages over Christmas in a comfortable cottage (more of a house!) with beautiful views over parkland and fell. There a few aspects that need attending to in the property . We were disappointed at these considering the cost and description though they didn't spoil our stay. I won't describe here as I mentioned one to the owner (freezer door hanging off and had to de ice freezer to get food in ) and the rest are detailed in the review from people who stayed the week before us. Until these aspects are attended to we would only recommend to others...more
The house was stunning decor and cleanses top class. We had a very peaceful stay, the house is very close to lots of places of interest. The hot tub was a plus! All in all a great stay ! Thank you
The Old Post Office is first class! The thought and care which has gone into presenting this cottage is evident. Thank you for a lovely stay. Derek & Sheenagh
Stayed four nights. Weather was appalling so didn’t explore much and appreciated the comfort and facilities in the cottage. Although furnishings were generally of a high quality, the foam pillows were a disappointment. Lighting in the sitting room was a bit dull if you wanted to read … it would benefit from an uplighter or two. Limited space in the kitchen if you’re bringing your own food.
If anything that can define this gorgeous house by the lake, it's blissful! Loved our stay of 6n/7d but definitely felt like staying longer. Waking up to the amazing view every single morning was something we really looked forward to. The house was beautifully traditionally decorated. Everything was spic and span. Everything was well taken care off from the kitchen (everything you will ever need) to the bathrooms (towels, toilet rolls, shower gels) to the living room (huge collection of dvd's which came as a pleasant surprise) though there's an option of Netflix. But am so old school! ;) ...more
Another enjoyable stay and location is perfect. We’ve stayed in accommodation on a number of occasions over the years and enjoyed every visit. Sadly we were sorry to learn it will be our last visit due to both properties being put up for sale.
Hilltop was a great place to spend New Year with friends. It’s a lovely cottage that has everything you could possibly need. There’s a very welcoming village pub just a few metres away, where we saw in the New Year. Fizz and bacon sandwiches were available the next morning in the village hall before a walk in the surrounding countryside. Perfect! We did get a little lost trying to find the cottage in the dark and rain; providing a simple map in the welcome pack would be very helpful.
Unfortunately we stayed at the barn before it was finished but for the money paid I would have expected a higher standard or to have been notified in advance. What has been finished is done to an exceptional standard although with such small bedrooms this would have worked better as a 2 bedroom than a 3 bedroom. A couple of times in the stay I tried to contact the owners as directed but got no reply which didn’t help. However the sun shone and views are to die for. This is not for children due to upstairs windows.
Our first floor apartment (which cost £325k new) was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite) and a lounge/diner with open plan kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked & had new Neff appliances: dishwasher and oven. Chesterfield-style sofas and a dining room table & chairs featured in the lounge area. Sumptuous carpeting throughout. A balcony with table/chairs ran the length of the rear of the property. Very minor negatives: it is a flat so some noise inevitable (eg TV) from other residents. The floorboards in the property were a little creaky...more
