The most restful and peaceful holiday cottage I’ve ever stayed in. Magical surroundings and very friendly staff. Thank you.
We have been visiting Ardtornish for 40 years now and we have watched the hospitality side develop over the years. The new Coal Shed Cafe was an absolute delight! Of course the scenery never changes and never disappoints! Our extended family (3 generations plus 3 dogs) all enjoyed our Easter break in spite of the rain, hailstones and gales! There is no bad weather in Scotland- only bad clothing. Bring waterproofs and you are all set for the best holiday ever. Already booked for 2027!
We have been coming for over 35 years so I think that says it all! We wouldn't keep coming back year on year if we didn't love the place!
A characterful, comfortable and quirky flat on 3rd floor of this vast and splendid Victorian mansion. We were glad of the lift! Ardtornish is a wonderful and fascinating place in a really beautiful area. The views, loch and gardens are amazing.
We stayed with our family and had the most amazing experience. This is the third time back for many of us. The space is perfect and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. The surrounding area is beautiful and the new coal shed cafe was a lovely addition. Something for everyone to enjoy.
The family 10 of us stayed in Achranich to remember my late husband Richard. He and I stayed several times in the cottages and fished the river. It was one of his favorite places and so we scattered his ashes in the river opposite Rose cottage. Despite the weather which was mixed we had a wonderful time. A few walks and a trip to Mull. The cafe was amazing great food and so convenient for us! The house was amazing so much space and so warm and cosy. The beds were extremly comfortable! Thank you for looking after us so well.
Thanks to all for another great weekend.....as ever everything was fantastic. Already looking forward to next years trip.
We loved the cottage and the location. It was perfect for walking. When we arrived the cottage heating was on so very welcoming as it was still early April. We struggled a little with the cooker. There were no instructions in the booklet. We were unsure if we were required to put the boost on for hot water; as it turned out we didnt but some instruction would have been useful to know when it was required. The estate shop ready meals were brilliant; we had one each evening; truely delicious.
Another relaxing stay in the Boathouse with the usual variety of mixed weather but with the dying cupboard, the heaters and the log burner we were kept dry and cosy. The house is situated in and idea spot at the loch side with good walks and the estate office/coal shed cafe just a brief walk. As usual the scenery is stunning, the air fresh and the wildlife all around. We were blessed with a visit from the pine martin most evenings.
A beautiful, spacious and characterful flat full of antique furniture. Victorian splendour! Ardtornish is a glorious area, with a wonderful variety of scenery, walks, activities etc. Amazing gardens.
Kitchen poorly equipped for the price. No personal contact/service despite this being 35th plus visit. The house is warm and cosy but fees need to be invested back into things like the facia boards of the building to preserve the building. There were no salt and pepper pots supplied for the table. The information for the house needs to be up to date - for example, to have this year's ferry timetables.
Wonderful location. But bare minimum basic supplies - no soap, laundry product, no spices other than salt and pepper. It would be easier to list what was there was. Take a look at Isle of Mull cottages that’s how to do it and make guests feel welcome. No welcome gift however small counts a lot. Very cramped for 6 - fine for 4. Big problem - water tank in twin room lets in water with a lot of noise during night - ear plugs essential. To be fair as I love Ardtonish I thought this cottage was a little underwhelming.
