Vine Cottage oozes space and elegance in the delightful village of Paxford, just outside historic Chipping Campden. You can tick everything off your wish list, a comfortable living room to lounge by the fire, a stunning dining room where you can all eat together, a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and en-suite bedrooms. There’s even a quiet reading room and a fantastic garden so you can really spend your time here as you wish. Broadway and Chipping Campden are a popular choice for days out with beautiful architecture of Cotswold stone and so much choice for meals out. If you’re a walker you can follow the beginning of the Cotswold Way from here and popular days out like Batsford Arboretum, Snowshill and Cotswold Farm Park are all nearby.

We had a lovely stay at Vine Cottage. We were a multigenerational group of 7 and whilst the property was two storeys our eldest members (81) were able to manage the stairs. The enclosed garden was perfect for us as we took our cockerpoo. The parking for 3-4 cars was also a godsend as many cottages don’t have much parking and we had 3 cars on this occasion.

The property was large downstairs which was great for all of us to socialise in and spread out. TVs in all key rooms was also handy. The kitchen was well equipped inclusive of some dishwasher tabs, tea towels and a bin liner. We appreciated the fans in the bedrooms in light of the recent hot weather.

Nice white linens and towels. Thumbs up from all of us!

What a beautiful cottage!
We are a group of school friends meeting up and had a fantastic relaxing weekend. The cottage is beautifully appointed and we managed to stay cool despite the heat as there was a bit if a breeze through all the doors and windows.
It was well equipped and very comfortably furnished. Beds and sofa very comfortable.
Great location too. Tiny quiet village but loads to do on the doorstep. Don’t think we travelled more than 5 miles from the cottage!
Had a lovely meal at Ebrington Arms in the Saturday evening. Can recommend.
We contacted Bolthole retreats in advance of our stay to find out whether fans would be available and they got back to me very quickly confirming they would. It was very hot on the second floor so fans were essential.
All in all a great place to stay.

Great cottage for our break for a group of 5 friends.
Plenty of space, privacy and three bathrooms plus downstairs loo.
Large kitchen ideal for cooking and socialising with everything we needed. Plus large dinning room, comfy lounge and snug.
Weather too cold to use the outside space but enclosed garden and large table which would have been great.
Cottage in a pretty village close to so many amenities, surrounded by beautiful countryside and places to visit and walk.
Attached to the village pub which is being renovated but not noisy and didn’t affect our enjoyment of the stay.
Would highly recommend.

A lovely home with everything we needed. Even in the rain we had a wonderful relaxing time. Great spot close to Moreton on Marsh where we did the recommended loop walk (2 hours) - very wet but a lovely route.

Drove to Daylesford farm and bourton on the water too.

Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Vine Cottage, Paxford. Tastefully decorated throughout, beautiful furniture, was a real home from home. Comfy beds and pillows. The Aga was a real treat on the cold days! We had a couple of points to note but they did not ruin our holiday and would not put us off staying again but think they are worth mentioning. We were woken up every night with the sensor lights and extractor fans going on and off intermittently in both bathrooms even though nobody was entering the rooms. If we stayed in the summer and sat in the garden you are exposed to people walking past so an enclosed fence would suit us better but this is personal preference as we also have two reactive dogs. The house is beautiful and in an ideal location so we would happily stay again!

Thank you so much for your lovely review and for choosing to stay at Vine Cottage. We’re delighted to hear that you found the cottage comfortable and homely, enjoyed the décor and furniture, and that the Aga was a welcome treat during the colder days. Thank you also for taking the time to share your helpful feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the sensor lights and extractor fans activating during the night and appreciate you bringing this to our attention — this is something we will look into to ensure a more restful stay for future guests. We also understand your comments regarding the garden; as you say, this can come down to personal preference, particularly when travelling with dogs, and we appreciate your honesty. We’re really pleased to hear that these points didn’t detract from your overall enjoyment and that you would happily stay with us again. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back to Vine Cottage in the future.

Vine cottage is a lovely place to stay. It was ideal for our family group ranging from 3 months to 65 years. Perfectly clean, very spacious and modern, beautifully furnished and very well equipped, it offered us everything we could ask for. We particularly loved the large dining area for our family meals. There is a garden for toddlers to play in and a very quiet park with swings next door. On-site parking for our three cars was so easy. I cannot find fault at all. They have obviously put a lot of effort into making it so comfortable. The location is also convenient for all the Cotswolds highlights. Thank you for our stay – we will be back.

Bolthole Retreats found this cottage for us quickly after our original choice fell through. However we can’t fully recommend the property because the pub next door is in the process of being renovated and scaffolding overlooks the house and garden. Fortunately no work was carried out during our stay. Parts of the house do still smell of smoke following the fire in the pub.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent stay at Vine Cottage. We’re sorry to hear that your experience meant you don’t feel able to fully recommend the property. On our website we mention under the Points of Note section £The Churchill Arms pub next door is currently under renovation". Your comments regarding the smell in the house have been shared with the property owner and housekeepers, who have taken this on board and are already looking into resolving the issue. Wen do hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Cotswolds again in the future.

We loved our stay in this house. It’s in perfect condition and the location is amazing. It’s a very quiet area but easy walk to other villages and towns via Bridleways. One of our favourite houses in the UK.
Outdoor area is great and we were fortunate it to use it as the weather was great.
The dog loved it too! Perfect window seat for her when we were inside.
Highly recommended home from home!
