Tucked away along a quiet lane in the Forest of Dean, just two miles from the village of Longhope, Myrtle Cottage is a charming countryside retreat with far-reaching views over rolling fields and wooded hills.

Full of character, this Grade II-listed, 18th-century property features beamed ceilings, flagstone floors and panelled walls, with welcoming soft tones and comfortable furnishings to sink into.

Outside, the garden offers an open, sunlit spot for leisurely breakfasts or peaceful evenings under the stars. And right on the doorstep, scenic walks lead through ancient woodland and open countryside, with nearby villages and cosy pubs promising plenty to explore.

Myrtle Cottage was a little slice of peace for our visit to the area. A home-away-from-home to retreat to after busy sightseeing each day, it had all the comforts we appreciated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We wish we had explored the outside of the property more at the start of our stay, as only on the last day did we realize the wonderful views from the almost secret path beside the cottage.

We loved our time at the cottage! I was a little worried about how we would cope in the hot weather but we stepped into an amazingly cool kitchen and the cottage turned out to be the best place to be in a heat wave!

The finishing touches really made us feel like we stepped into a home rather than a holiday let. We could really see and feel the care that has been put into making the cottage feel warm and inviting and it is so well equipped with everything you need.
The cottage and its surroundings gave us the opportunity to spend time as a family and step out of our busy lives for a moment.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Myrtle Cottage. It is a beautiful old building with lots of nice 21st century features including a well equipped kitchen and walk-in shower. We loved how quiet it was at night and how lively the birdsong was in the morning.

We had such a lovely time here. 2 couples in their late 20s, needing to escape the city life! There’s gorgeous walks around, had a great meal at the local pub and just enjoyed having the fire on and playing games in the evening. We had a tiny hiccup with the oven that was immediately sorted by the kind owner coming round. We will 100% be back! Thank you!

We absolutely fell in love with old Myrtle Cottage, a beautiful, well equipped property in the most perfect location for getting out and about in the Forest of Dean.
The Farmers Boy Inn, just 200 yards up the road, was a lovely bonus. Their friendly welcome and hospitality, along with their excellent food and beverages, really helped to make our stay even better. We can’t wait to go back and discover more of the area!!

We had a long weekend in this cottage and really enjoyed it. Communication with owner the John was excellent throughout and the property is very comfortable and nicely furnished. Good walks directly from the cottage and it is in an exceptionally quiet position.

Everything you could possibly need is provided and it's all very clean. Two woodburners as well as radiators keep the cottage nice and warm and the beds and furniture are all very comfortable.

We would definitely recommend this cottage.

Claire & John made our cottage stay so wonderful - a really idyllic cottage with a great big kitchen and 2 beautifully comfy king size beds. The location was perfect - lots to do and a perfect cottage stay - we would definitely come back!
