Nestled on the edge of Rodborough Common with sublime views across the Stroud valley, Lucknow Cottage is a boutique retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds. Beautifully refurbished, the house preserves its original charm while adding a touch of elegance, making it a truly special place to stay. The area is a well known haven for walkers, bring your furry companions along to explore the miles of scenic trails. Nearby, the popular Stroud Farmer’s Market showcases locally sourced, seasonal produce. You can also visit the enchanting Rococo Gardens in Painswick, or venture further to Westonbirt Arboretum and the spa town of Cheltenham.

We had an amazing stay at Lucknow Cottage. Everyday we walked up the Rodborough Common. The view was incredible looking out to the Bristol Channel and the green valley below with cows in tow! A great location with comfortable beds and quiet neighbourhood. There was a soccer field just down the road with a small playground for young children. The Prince Albert pub at the end of the street was a great music venue.

Cottage is in a lovely location and beautifully decorated however some things could be improved:

Shower water pressure poor - could have it hot and barely flowing or cold and decent pressure, not both.

No washing up liquid, hand soap in downstairs loo or milk in fridge despite booking details saying there would be.

Utility area and downstairs loo had no radiators so were very cold.

Mould on the wall/skirting board behind sofa.

Sofa was a bit dirty/stained

Good points:
Comfy beds
Beautiful views
Quiet
Good appliances/well equipped kitchen.
Apart from the sofa the house is very clean.
Housekeeper very helpful when we rang to report electrics had stopped working.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us on your recent stay at Lucknow Cottage. We’re very glad to hear that you liked the cottage and it's lovely location, though we’re sorry that a few aspects of your stay didn’t quite meet your expectations. Your valuable feedback has been shared with the property owner and housekeeper. They’ve let us know that the electrics are now working as they should and are no longer tripping, and a plumber will be visiting soon to look at the shower pressure. They’ve also taken on board the other points you raised and are looking into them. We hope to see you in the Cotswolds again soon.

Beautifully decorated property. With very steep stairs and only one bathroom it is suitable for up to four persons. Little touches like a decent clothes rack, some sort of a washing line, instructions on appliances, and adequate tea towels and hand towels would be nice.

Being former Stroud residents, we were keen to return for a short break and Lucknow cottage did not disappoint: Wonderful location and house. Excellent furniture and comfort. We all greatly enjoyed and appreciated the dog friendly touches like the water bowl and dog bags offered. Would strongly recommend. Only small suggestions to offer - a greater number of dishcloths and a drying rack were all we could think of. Would stay again.
