We absolutely loved our week at Carna House. Swimming in the loch every day, exploring around the island on our little boat, fishing for & eating fresh mackerel. Finding the top of the island (a real adventure!). We saw seals, otters & eagles and could hear the stags calling every day across on the estate. Playing games in front of the log fire every night, and the one night when it was clear some amazing star gazing! Andy was the perfect host and looked after us very well. If you are thinking of visiting don’t hesitate, it’s such a unique place to escape to and just switch off.
Our first time visit to Carna started of a day later than antisipated, due to the first storm of the year, Amy. Unfortunately it had caused quite a lot of damage to the surrounding are of Ardnamurchan, 96mph winds, fallen trees everywhere, power cables down, internet, telephone reception, and not to mention the loss of the Jetty on Carna, so no use of the boat for us! At least arriving a day later onto the Island we had our own power and WIFI due to the excellent set up of solar panels and a generator on the Island, not so much though for those back on the mainland as it was some days later b...more
