One of the nicest cottages we’ve ever stayed in! Beautifully designed, decorated and equipped with a huge and incredibly comfortable bed. Set in its own grounds alongside West End Farm (which we were lucky enough to get a look at and which I’m currently saving up for!) There were koi carp and sheep and a beautiful ex racehorse plus the dogs were delighted with the secure dog paddock. Highly recommend!
Wow! Where to start with West End Farm. We booked this venue not only due to how impressive and beautiful it looked but also due to its proximity to some family members who are unable to travel far. And it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Everything from the hot tub, to the various reception rooms (including the fantastic bar) meant it was the perfect hosting venue for a Hen Do! This proved to be the perfect spot for a group of friends to relax, laugh, share and feel indulged. It really made us all feel special! The house definitely has the "wow!" factor. We cooked together in the spacious, well equipped kitchen, we played croquet on the lawn ( a first for many of us), we relaxed in the huge hot tub, burnt sausages on the barbie and we sang and danced knowing that we would not be disturbing any neighbours! A wonderful stay at Ewelands House. We were so lucky to have some beautiful weather and be able to enjoy the stunning views over the valley. The attention to detail throughout the house was gorgeous including the comfortable beds, sumptuous sofa’s and beautiful cushions. Fabulous location close to Whitby, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay. Molly and Lewis were extremely accommodating throughout and even arranged for a freshly baked loaf on our arrival along with a beautifully presented welcome hamper which was really appreciated. In September we booked the Cowslip retreat for a few nights to spend some quality time in the moors and Whitby. The location is brilliant - short drive into Whitby (where we managed to find free parking), as well as being on the doorstep of some lovely hikes. The apartment had everything we needed and more! At 8 months pregnant it was lovely to be able to relax of an evening in the living space, pop on netflix and then make our own breakfasts in the mornings. From the moment we booked our host Molly kept us informed with all relevant information about the property and the location. Everything was perfect when we arrived from hot baked bread to a Christmas hamper it surpassed our expectations on all levels.
The Piggery is an amazing place with views second to none. A home from home with everything we needed. It was wonderful sitting outside on the decking having our food. We usually eat out a lot on holiday but changed to bringing food back to cottage to make the most of the views. Perfect for the dogs. They loved the enclosed garden and laying out on the decking. The only comment I have is when we went back with our lunch on Monday the gardeners were there with the gates open so we had to keep the dogs in for quite a while so couldn’t sit outside.
